In Adam Ruins Everything, host Adam Conover employs a combination of comedy, history and science to dispel widespread misconceptions about everything we take for granted. A blend of entertainment and enlightenment, Adam Ruins Everything is like that friend who knows a little bit too much about everything and is going to tell you about it... whether you like it or not.

I also do not like this show... then again, I know how to read! I think the show is well-intentioned and in small doses, Adam can be entertaining, but this show has the same straw man argument problems that plagued Penn and Teller's often wonderful Bullshit series. He only "cites" research that supports his views. One article in Scientific American does not an ironclad argument make. If you don't believe me, talk to a real scientist, literally ANY scientist you can find and s/he will tell you the same.

The show has some genuinely funny and informative moments, but does he actually prove anything, much less ruin everything? Uh, sometimes yes, sometimes, no. Feeling clever feels good, and we all want to feel like we are smart enough to discover any con job out there but he doesn't really do that. After 15 mins of his show, instead of feeling like you could out-con P.T.Barnum, you end up feeling like you're stuck in a window seat next to a self-proclaimed know-it-all who will not shut up -and it's a 3-hour flight.

This gets old VERY quickly and along with his conviction that he is the smartest man alive, everything becomes well, grating to watch.
While other people will probably disagree with me on this, personally, I find Adam's personality to be...unpleasant. Hence the title name, which I don't think was created by accident. None of this makes him a bad guy by any means but it does make for some tv viewing that is weirdly uncomfortable.

As much as I have learned from the show and I have; it's his arrogance, his ( for me) frankly annoying personality, and his biases that kill any enjoyment I may have gotten out of learning something new. So, yes, Adam- you did ruin something, several hours of my time. :)
