I'm not afraid of snakes. I have a healthy respect for them. And they are deadly.

My father and I were stalked every day for over a week by a very large snake while fishing at the same spot. We believe it was a female with eggs nearby. She decided she'd had enough of us one day and came on the sand bar as we were leaving. The fields were flooded that year. She'd swim around watching us. She was some sort of spreading viper. And she raised herself up, spread her head and hissed at us. She let us pass after being hit with cane poles a couple of times. Just glad Dad had decided to bring them with us. They were very long poles. We found a new fishing spot.
