'American Idol' premiere: Jennifer Lopez's best quotes

"American Idol" welcomed two new judges this year -- Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. So we're bringing you their best bon mots from their first time out. What did you think of J.Lo as a judge? We think Jennifer really found her stride. She started off a little Paula-ish. Afraid to be mean, not wanting to crush someone's hopes and dreams. But she figured out quickly enough that the producers find the most horrible, crazy people they can to send into the judges for the "funny" auditions and she straightened right up. We think she has potential. Here are some of J.Lo's gems from the premiere:[to a bad singer from the Ivory Coast] -- "It's not about your accent, it's more really just about the singing."[on having to be mean] -- "Why did I sign up for this?! I wanna go home!"[on contestant Ashley Sullivan] -- "She's out of her mind, but I love it."[on contestant Robbie... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/american-idol-premiere-jennifer-lopezs-best-quotes.html

'American Idol' premiere: Steven Tyler's best quotes

"American Idol" welcomed two new judges this year -- Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. So we're bringing you their best bon mots from their first time out. What did you think of Mr. Tyler as a judge? We have to say, we think the rock legend was excellent. Kinda funny, kinda insane, but he also had some good things to say to the contestants. And just a bit lecherous, which is also nice. Here are some of Steven's gems:[on judging] -- "I know why we're here. We're all here because we're not all there."[on contestant Rachel Zevita] -- "We oughta let her in the door. Water that flower 'cause I think it's gonna grow."[to Randy, about a contestant with a nice backside] -- "Were you lookin' down, boy? I saw you lookin' down?" [fist bump][to a contestant with metal stars on her bra top] -- "What's with the jujubees on your oohoohbees?"[being lecherous] -- "An Italian with... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/american-idol-premiere-steven-tylers-best-quotes.html

'American Idol': Yoji 'Pop' Asano is the new William Hung

hank you TV Gods for the gift that was Yogi "Pop" Asano on "American Idol." We desperately needed a William Hung this season and you delivered. The 25-year-old "singer" from Japan strutted into his audition in a gold metallic jacket and immediately had the judges enthralled with tales of his Michael Jackson impersonating days. When Jennifer Lopez asked what his story was, Mr. "Pop" answered, "My story? Uh... I've been imitating Michael Jackson since I was two-years-old," but soon corrected himself, saying he has actually been imitating the late King of Pop since "before I was born." Asano went on to sing Miley Cyrus' infectious hit "Party in the USA" and literally had Lopez jumping up and down in her seat with glee when he busted out some "Thriller" moves. Eat your heart out, Chris Brown! Our only complaint? We didn't get to see the judges' critique of Asano. We'd kill to know what Steven... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/american-idol-yoji-pop-asano-is-the-new-william-hung.html

'American Idol': 'Hallelujah' starts early in Season 10 with Rachel Zevita

Remember six years ago, when "Hallelujah" wasn't the default song for... everything? We blame the Season 1 finale of "The O.C.," because now it's everywhere. "American Idol" contestants tend to whip it out when they're in dire need of saving (hello, Tim Urban) because "Hallelujah" is the opiate for the masses. The first to tackle it in Season 10 was the very first audition of the season, 22-year-old Rachel from New York. The 22 year old had previously auditioned - and made it to Hollywood - in Season 6. She was booted in the first Hollywood round."I kind of thought it was destiny telling me this wasn't the best path for me," Rachel says. Then she had a change of heart. "What the hell is wrong with me? Since when do I give up on anything?""I remember you. You can sing. Me and Marc were sitting at home and we were like, 'Why didn't that girl... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/american-idol-hallelujah-starts-early-in-season-10-with-rachel-zevita.html

'American Idol' gets the 'Jersey Shore' treatment: Fist pumping with Seacrest

When "American Idol" goes to Jersey, it's do-as-the-Guidos-do. They even retooled that classic blue spinning "Idol" logo to match the crumbling "Jersey Shore" stamp logo MTV uses. With Hardnox's song "Fist Pump" playing in the background, we will never forget Ryan Seacrest pausing beside a Pauly D lookalike to beat up the beat.Vinny definitely approves - he tweeted his thanks to Seacrest. "hey @RyanSeacrest , way to get every1 to fistpump on American idol." (Good to know he's an "Idol" fan. We bet he voted for Crystal Bowersox.)We got a Jersey vocabulary lesson: "Hello" is "how you doin', OH!" and "you're welcome" is "fugettaboutit, OH!" Don't forget that OH, or you'll out yourself as a foreigner."Rule out everything you know about fashion and if all else fails remember less is definitely more," Seacrest says as the camera focuses in on a long-haired fellow flexing and a woman wearing shorts with "Jersey Shore" stamped on the... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/american-idol-gets-the-jersey-shore-treatment-fist-pumping-with-seacrest.html

'American Idol': Robbie Rosen is Season 10's first sob story

"American Idol" Season 10 is officially underway and it only took 45 minutes to get our first sob/sad story. This season's first belongs to 16-year-old Robbie Rosen from Merrick, New York, who looks remarkably like Danny Zuko from "Grease." Relevant? Not really, but still note-worthy. The teenager spent time in a wheelchair when he was five years-old, which devastated his family so much that they didn't even take pictures or video of him. Luckily, it wasn't a permanent condition and Robbie is now fine.Robbie sang The Beatles' tune "Yesterday" and blew the judges away with his controlled and touching performance. Steven Tyler described it as "beautiful" and Jennifer Lopez told him, "I like you. I love the tone of your voice, I think you're cute." Obviously, the judges sent the boy wonder through, with J.Lo saying "Hollywood! Bye!"Video to come soon.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/american-idol-robbie-rosen-is-season-10s-first-sob-story.html

'American Idol': Constantine Maroulis, behind the scenes for New Jersey auditions

Season 10 of "American Idol" is finally upon us -- and what better place to ring it in than New Jersey? The Jan. 19 premiere shows off the new talent from the Jers, while paying homage to one that came before them. It's Constantine Maroulis, Season 4 finalist and Jersey's other, other, other favorite son. We wonder what kind of reception gets in his home state... Well, of course. The folks in Jersey are an enthusiastic bunch, and almost all of them possess what any "American Idol" has to have: unfettering pride.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/american-idol-constantine-maroulis-behind-the-scenes-for-new-jersey-auditions.html

American Idol Promises "Frightening" Confidence and "Heat" for the 10th Season

Hey, have you heard? American Idol has been overhauled, and the people responsible for the changes were all present and accounted for at Fox's TCA press tour today—you know, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Ryan Seacrest, Randy Jackson and the powers that be. We got the goods on the new season, plus a preview of the live dynamic between Ryan and the new judges. We just want to warn you... ...they will be putting Steven Tyler on a five-second tape delay. Or at least Ryan hopes they'll have to. In fact, the Aerosmith star was kind enough to sum up the judging dynamic in one sentence: "I get red in the face, she bails me out, and Randy says, ‘yo!'" That's the type of serious and professional critique we can expect this year from the juggernaut that is Idol. OK, it's more than that. Here's the breakdown on the type of roles Ryan, Jennifer Lopez, Steven, and Randy Jackson will play from their perches behind the table: Read More… //feeds.eonline.com/~r/eonline/kristin/~3/wmecBTdTpHI/b219972_american_idol_promises_frightening.html

The 'American Idol' Judges Have No Idea How Long It Takes Jennifer Lopez to Get Ready (VIDEO)

The new gang at 'American Idol' has been making the press circuit like it's a brand new show. With only Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest remaining from last season, that may be more true than it seems for this tenth season. Jackson and Seacrest joined new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM on NBC) to talk about the new season. Jay Leno apparently ran sort on the tough questions, because after asking the gimme question f what they're looking for in talent this year, he resorted to asking which of them took the longest to get ready for a taping.
