American Idol Eliminee Thia Megia: "I Can Do So Much More"

Shoulda, woulda, coulda, but didn't, were the sentiments eliminated contestant  Thia Megia  expressed to us Friday while discussing her exit from the  Idol  stage. Her rendition of  Elton John 's "Daniel" may have been some her best work while enjoying the spotlight, but it was too late for redemption. So what does Thia regret, and what does she want to prove to America? Read More... //feeds.eonline.com/~r/eonline/kristin/~3/fZsoS8xAr-0/b234244_american_idol_eliminee_thia_megia_i_can.html

Goodbye Girls, Will 'American Idol' Crown Another Male Winner?

Earlier on in Season 10 of American Idol , Randy Jackson gave us the shocking information that either a girl or a guy could win this season. If experience has taught him anything, it's how to predict things. Nigel Lythgoe even said earlier on that the girls were coming on strong this season, but America isn't Nigel Lythgoe. So far, only girls have been eliminated, leaving two contenders and one who has been in the bottom 3 multiple times. The one guy who would have been eliminated (Casey), received The Save. So what gives? I guess we could talk about sexism but I don't really think that's the issue. And I don't want to talk about sexism because blehh, you know? But here's where we theorize. Here are some half-baked theories: //www.buddytv.com/articles/american-idol/goodbye-girls-will-american-id-39859.aspx

American Idol's Thia Megia: "I Have Been Doubting Myself"

Think it's easy, being a contestant on American Idol ? For Thia Megia, who was given her walking papers Thursday night, it's an experience she'll always treasure. But the first word out of her mouth when you ask her how she's feeling?  //www.tvguide.com/News/American-Idol-Thia-1031353.aspx?rss=breakingnews

American Idol's Naima Adedapo: "I Believe in Staying True to Myself"

It was the end of the road Thursday night for American Idol's exotic flower, Naima Adedapo. But the funky, self-assured 26-year-old from Milwaukee has no regrets about her risky move to put a reggae spin on Elton John's "I'm Still Standing." 'American Idol': Jackson family allegedly offended by James Durbin's 'Pepsi moment' quip

Remember Wednesday (March 30) evening when James Durbin literally set the "Idol" stage on fire with his take on Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting?" At the end of an exhaustingly energetic performance, Durbin jumped off the top of a grand piano which then -- BAM! -- burst into flames on queue. The first thought that went through our heads was, of course, Michael Jackson's unfortunate run-in with pyrotechnics while filming a Pepsi commercial in 1984. Apparently Durbin was on the same wavelength, because when Ryan Seacrest asked him how he felt about his performance, Durbin replied, "I have a lot of hairspray in my hair to keep it from jumping around -- so much so, the one thing I was worried about was having a 'Pepsi moment.'"Less than 24 hours later and a "source" from the Jackson family has allegedly let it be known -- via TMZ -- that the family is displeased.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/american-idol-jackson-family-allegedly-offended-by-james-durbins-pepsi-moment-quip.html

American Idol Review: Who Did Elton John Justice?

American Idol paid tribute to Elton John last night, and may have found a couple new contenders in the process. First, Haley Reinhart surprised us by closing the show, an honor typically given to a contestant that has generated more buzz than the young woman many believed would be eliminated last week. But Haley proved worthy of the concluding spot, bringing the sexy with a cover of "Bennie and the Jets" that started with her lounging on a piano. Randy called it the best of the night. 'American Idol' Top 11 redux: Stefano Langone, Naima Adedapo not so hot on Elton John

The "American Idol" contestants are back in a Top 11 due to the save being used last week on Casey Abrams. Now they're tackling Elton John - let's see how they fared. When the judges arrive, Tyler and J.Lo are looking particularly feftching tonight. Tyler's got his best "Saturday Night Fever" outfit going and J.Lo's dress is to die for - she is disgustingly beautiful sometimes. Like, she's always beautiful, but then sometimes it's just too much. Seacrest is also dapper in a blue suit. At least Randy isn't wearing a sweater, we guess. Before we get to the performances, I just have to comment - does it seem like J.Lo has to sit in the middle not because she's a girl (so that it alternates boy-girl-boy), but because Steven Tyler often wants to strangle Randy Jackson with one of his many scarves? Just me?Here are your Top 10 plus 1 Idols, from best to worst:There... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/american-idol-top-11-redux-stefano-langone-naima-adedapo-not-so-hot-on-elton-john.html

James Durbin Brings the Fire to His Elton John Performance on 'American Idol' (VIDEO)

There is no debate that James Durbin is the hardest rocking vocalist on 'American Idol' (Wed., 8PM on FOX) this season. Week after week, he's proven he can wrap his big voice around anything. So how do you up the ante for Elton John week? Tackling "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)," Durbin took a huge risk. In 'Idol' seasons past, stylized songs with repetitive lyrics like that haven't led to the best performances, but Durbin managed to make it work. He also jumped around the stage and added some unexpected elements to spark the performance. We certainly didn't see the piano fire coming, but by then we were full immersed in this rock experience. Like Jennifer Lopez said, "When you're up there, I forget that it's a competition show. I think I'm at a show." //www.tvsquad.com/2011/03/30/james-durbin-brings-the-fire-elton-john-american-idol-video/

'American Idol's' Lauren Alaina quietly wows on 'Candle in the Wind'

Lauren Alaina finally displayed what the judges (and us at home) saw during her "American Idol" audition in Nashville. She took on the classic ballad "Candle in the Wind" and not only was it beautiful, but she seemed to have such a connection to the song.Plus, she changed it up enough that the song was her own, instead of a carbon copy of Elton John's original. The judges were rightly praising the number and while some at teh Zap offices found it sleepy, we thought overall it was lovely. Did you agree?Elton John proved to be a pretty decent night all around - we don't think Lauren is in danger of heading home. Which two Idols do you think are packing their bags?... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/american-idols-lauren-alaina-quietly-wows-on-candle-in-the-wind.html
