'American Idol' Top 6 'honored' to sing with Queen

In case you were wondering, singing with rock and roll legends is just as cool as you think it'll be. The "American Idol" Top 6 tell Zap2it after the performance show that the opening medley they sang with Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor was a highlight of their young lives. "That was crazy, performing with Queen," Joshua Ledet says. "I was super excited. I mean, how many people can actually say they performed with Queen? [It's] ridiculous. It's a big highlight of my life and I'm going to take it everywhere."Elise Testone says she has fond memories of listening to Queen as a kid. "When I was little, my dad collected jukeboxes and we had a ton of Queen records in ours," she says. "I would roller skate all night long and blast Queen and sing every word. That's why during the medley I was like 'Yeah,' because I knew every song and... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-top-6-honored-to-sing-with-queen.html

'American Idol' Top 6 think sick Ryan Seacrest is a 'trooper'

Despite reports that Ryan Seacrest was too sick to host the "American Idol" Top 6 performance show, the hard-working host rallied and managed to make it through the two-hour telecast. But, as Zap2it observed from the studio audience, Seacrest was definitely sick. The first tip-off: Most of his segments were conducted from stools, as he was too weak to stand for the entire program. Second, though a handsome guy (and not sickly looking by any means), the 'crest was definitely lacking in energy. And third, though you didn't see this on television, an assistant held an ice pack to Seacrest's neck while stage manager Debbie and even Randy Jackson helped keep his temperature down by fanning him with their notebooks. As the show went on, Seacrest seemed to perk up. Several contestants told Zap2it after the stage that they could barely tell their fearless host was under the weather. Says Hollie Cavanagh, "I knew, but I didn't... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-top-6-think-sick-ryan-seacrest-is-a-trooper.html

'American Idol': Ryan Seacrest's girlfriend Julianne Hough has a crush on Phillip Phillips

From the constant high-pitched screams in the "American Idol" studio whenever Phillip Phillips is onstage, it's very clear he's popular among the young ladies. Jennifer Lopez swoons whenever she critiques his performances. Now, Ryan Seacrest's girlfriend Julianne Hough has joined the Phil Phillips fan club.During the Top 6 live show, Seacrest mentioned on air that when Hough met Phillips backstage, she sighed and said "yummy." A natural reaction -- have you seen that smile? But what you might not have picked up on TV is that Hough, who was watching the show from offstage, laughed so loudly you could hear her in the studio audience.Zap2it spoke with Phillips about the moment after the show, and he says Seacrest has nothing to worry about -- though he's flattered by the attention. "I ain't complaining! She's a gorgeous woman and Ryan's an awesome guy so they're an awesome match," he says. "I think she got all giddy... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-ryan-seacrests-girlfriend-julianne-hough-has-a-crush-on-phillip-phillips.html

American Idol: Hollie Cavanagh makes The Climb back into the game

For her second song on "American Idol" this week, Hollie Cavanagh chose "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus, which is not our favorite song in the whole wide world. But after hearing Hollie slay it, we have to admit - it was a great choice for her and may have gotten her back in the game. The judges were equally as impressed. Randy yells, "Now that's the Hollie Cavanagh that we love. That's the one!" and J.Lo adds, "That was stepping it up ... it was perfect. It was perfect for you. The emotion, the notes, the whole thing was great," while Steven tylers, "You sing a song like it's going out of style."What did you think, "American Idol" fans? Did Hollie save herself from elimination this week with that number?... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-hollie-cavanagh-makes-the-climb-back-into-the-game.html

American Idol Top 6 step up their game for Queen week

It's the songs of Queen on "American Idol" for the Top 6 and we are a bit skeptical about how that's going to go. Better or worse than Billy Joel week? Hmm. (Later, after we'd watched the whole show, we were impressed by how good this week was.)Why is Jennifer Lopez dressed like MC Hammer's genie? And boy, does Searcrest have some big hair tonight. Oh! We had not spotted Randy's "YO" pin yet. Goodness. Steven Tyler is the most normally dressed judge, which is weird. And then we kick things off with the Top 6 singing a medley alongside Brian May and Roger Taylor. Huh. Elise and Skylar sound great on their "Another One Bites the Dust" solo lines. We aren't sure anybody else really pulls this off. 1. Jessica Sanchez, "Bohemian Rhapsody"The opening is certainly gorgeous for her voice. The creepy backup heads are not OK, though. Holy crap. Those things must be two... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-top-6-step-up-their-game-for-queen-week.html

American Idol: Phillip Phillips finally does Dave Matthews Band - what did you think?

We've been waiting for Phillip Phillips to bust out some Dave Matthews Band on "American Idol" since his audition - he's so DMB, it's not even funny. When the big moment finally arrived, we were delighted to see Phillip chose "The Stone," which is not one of DMB's well-known hits. It's also a tricky little number. The judges were not so excited and they were right to point out that at this stage in the competition, it can be very dangerous to choose an obscure, "artsy" song, as J.Lo put it. But we have a sneaking suspicion that Phillip is so popular with the female voters that it probably doesn't matter. What do you think, "Idol" fans? Did you like his song choice? Will you be throwing your votes Phillip's way tonight?... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-phillip-phillips-finally-does-dave-matthews-band---what-did-you-think.html

American Idol: Joshua Ledet kills Ready for Love

Joshua Ledet decided to bring his A game this week on "American Idol." His second song was "Ready for Love" by India Arie and he absolutely murdered it dead. What was so great is that it wasn't Joshua screaming his head off like on some songs. He was restrained and it made it all that much better. The quiet power was so good and then the few times he did let loose on some high notes were nice because they were used sparingly. The judges gave him a second standing ovation. Randy says, "I don't even know what to say anymore ... that run at the end. You're so spot on, so way beyond your age in experience and talent" and Steven tylers, "I hope the label finds you a bunch of good songs and you're off to the moon."What did you think, "Idol" fans? Is Joshua a serious threat to win? Does he get your... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-joshua-ledet-kills-ready-for-love.html

American Idol: Jessica Sanchez redeems herself on Dance With My Father Again

For the second half of Queen week on "American Idol," Jessica Sanchez sang "Dance With My Father Again" by Luther Vandross. It was a marked step up from her earlier "Bohemian Rhapsody" performance and got her back on track to the type of songs that are more in her lane as an artist. The judges really loved it. J.Lo was particularly complimentary with, "That may have been the best I've ever heard that song sang ... the tenderness, the feeling, your vocal ability. The feeling for me, more than anything." And Randy added, "I gotta say, I thikn you guys are all ready to jump on the charts ... you are truly amazing to me because you're so natural."Do you think Jessica redeemed herself? Will she be getting your votes tonight, "Idol" fans?... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-jessica-sanchez-redeems-herself-on-dance-with-my-father-again.html

American Idol: Elise Testone Want[s] It All on Queen week

For Queen week on "American Idol," Elise Testone chose a more obscure song by the classic rock band - "I Want It All." That can sometimes hurt with the voters, so we hope people pick up the phone because this was back in the "Whole Lotta Love" lane for Elise, which is definitely a good one for her. She has never been more Janis-y than tonight, we thought. The judges were in agreement. Jennifer Lopez says, "That was you in your element. It was natural, it was sexy. You look great, you sounded great" and Randy adds, "That was unbelievable. That style of song is so right for you ... it allows you to do your Janis thing and do your runs."What did you think, "Idol" fans? Did Elise stave off elimination this week? Could she even (dare we say it) not be in the Bottom 3?... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/american-idol-elise-testone-wants-it-all-on-queen-week.html
