'American Idol' Top 3: Which two will advance to the finals?

It's the "American Idol" Top 3 - Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez. When they are introduced, Jessica is rocking a purple ball gown like Miss America Barbie. So pretty! And Josh looks sharp as always. Phillip, whose style is fine, that's who he is - kind of looks like a hobo by comparison.Round 1 tonight is judges' choice, Round 2 is contestants' choice and Round 3 is Jimmy Iovine's choice. 1. Joshua Ledet, "I'd Rather Go Blind," Etta JamesOooh, nice choice, dawg. Love the use of the hand-held old-timey microphone again. Vocally, Josh sounds great - some of his runs that go super low give us goosebumps. The key change is handled well, without a lot of production, but it leads into just a little more screaming than we like from Josh. However, the ending scat is fabulous. Overall, a very strong first outing. The judges talk a lot about how he's a throwback... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/american-idol-top-3-which-two-will-advance-to-the-finals.html

'American Idol': Phillip Phillips wraps up a trip to the finals on 'We've Got Tonight'

For the "American Idol" Top 3, Phillip Phillips was given "Beggin'" by Madcon and "We've Got Tonight" by Bob Seger, and then chose "Disease" by Matchbox 20 for himself. The "Beggin'" was solid and the Matchbox 20 was just OK, but Phillips just punched his ticket to the finals with his "We've Got Tonight." It's not an overly hard song, but he stuck with the melody, he showed off an actual nice voice and he had a romantic moment that the girls are sure to love. Randy summed it up best with, "The perfect song at the perfect time and your best performance on the show ever." We aren't sure it was better than "Volcano" but it was definitely right up there. What do you think, fans? Is Phillip a shoo-in? Should we even hold the finals next week, or should he just get crowned now and we can all go home?... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/american-idol-phillip-phillips-wraps-up-a-trip-to-the-finals-on-weve-got-tonight.html

'American Idol': Jessica Sanchez's phenomenal 'My All' followed up by so-so song choices

For the "American Idol" Top 3, Jessica Sanchez was handed "My All" by Mariah Carey and "I'll Be There" by the Jackson 5, then she personally chose "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" by Aeromsith. We fear some bad song choices may have just left Jessica out of the finals."My All" was phenomenal. It is one of the hardest songs we've ever seen done on this show - the degree of difficulty is off the charts. And Jessica really showed off her talent on it. Unfortunately, it was her first song and she followed it up with two so-so choices. The Aerosmith song was just OK and the Jackson 5 choice by Iovine was downright silly. She needed an "I Will Always Love You" moment and the repetitive, relatively easy "I'll Be There" was not going to get the job done. The judges praised her, because that's what they do, but they were never leaping out... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/american-idol-jessica-sanchezs-phenomenal-my-all-followed-up-by-so-so-song-choices.html

'American Idol': Joshua Ledet tackles John Lennon's 'Imagine' and nails it

For the "American Idol" Top 3, Joshua Ledet was handed Etta James' classic "I'd Rather Go Blind" and Mary J. Blige's "No More Drama" and then personally chose John Lennon's "Imagine." His first number was solid and his third song was also good, but it was his second offering - an R&B version of "Imagine" that stayed true to the original while still being distinctly "Joshua" - that was his best performance."It was a pulled back and controlled performance for you, which is hard to do," says Jennifer Lopez. And Steven adds, "Another thank-you-God moment from you." Steven also said of Joshua, "Out of 70,000 there is only one American Idol. And you sang like that one tonight."What do you think, "Idol" fans? Will Joshua advance to the finals? Does he have your votes tonight? VIdeos above and below in case you missed any of Josh's performances.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/american-idol-joshua-ledet-tackles-john-lennons-imagine-and-nails-it.html

'American Idol': Hollie Cavanagh on her elimination - 'I just kind of knew'

Despite the fact that Hollie Cavanagh has been in tears practically every Thursday night since March after every "American Idol" elimination episode, when it came time for the 18-year-old singer to leave the competition, she remained very composed. "Honestly, if you'd asked me a couple of weeks ago I would've been upset and in tears, but you can't really complain when you are at the Top 4," she tells Zap2it backstage after her elimination. "There were so many people previously in the competition that would have died to have been in this spot, so I am proud of myself at this point."That's the right attitude to take -- and she had all day to get to that point. "I woke up this morning with a little gut feeling -- I just kind of knew. I was talking to Josh[ua Ledet] about it all morning and all day saying how I felt and he told me... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/american-idol-hollie-cavanagh-on-her-elimination---i-just-kind-of-knew.html

'American Idol's' Jennifer Lopez and boyfriend Casper Smart want to 'Dance Again'

For the Top 4 "American Idol" results show, judge Jennifer Lopez took to the stage to perform her latest single "Dance Again," where she was surrounded by her usual cadre of beefy male backup dancers - including her new boy toy Casper Smart. At the end of the performance, Casper was the one backup dancer she danced solo with. They've definitely got some chemistry, no? He is also her dance partner in the official music video (below). J.Lo recently said of Casper in an interview with Vogue, "He's adorable. but you already see that ... He really is [loving and sweet]. He's a good egg. I don't want to talk about it too much. It's my private thing."We're glad she's found somebody she likes. What did you think of her "Idol" performance? We'll post video as soon as we have it.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/american-idols-jennifer-lopez-and-boyfriend-casper-smart-want-to-dance-again.html
