American Idol Season 13: With No Third Judge, Production Faces Delay

Times are tough for the American Idol producers: Their efforts to find new judges have been fairly fruitless — and now The Hollywood Reporter touts that the search for judges could delay the start date for American Idol 2014 Season 13 filming. 'American Idol': Could Harry Connick Jr. judge Season 13?

"American Idol" is still looking for a third judge to appear in Season 13. Could Harry Connick Jr. be that judge? According to reports, he just might be.Talks have begun between the show and the singer, according to E!News. While things are far from being certain, it isn't too hard to believe that Connick would consider working on the show. He has appeared as a mentor and a musical guest multiple times in previous seasons and even sat in as a guest judge once.Unfortunately, there is no confirmation that this is even a possibility. On the other hand, it's not like there is a lot of competition to sit next to Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban on the "Idol" stage. Producer and songwriter Dr. Luke had been widely rumored as a likely judge, but he ended up pulling out of the deal due to conflicting interests. Rumors remain that Scooter Braun -- manager to Justin... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/08/american-idol-could-harry-connick-jr-judge-season-13.html

'Idol' Judge Search Could Delay Show Production

'American Idol': Dr. Luke will not judge Season 13

Dr. Luke will not be a judge on "American Idol" Season 13. Although the producer and songwriter's name has been mentioned as a sure thing in many recent reports, a label conflict and time constraints seem to be at the root of the decline.According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dr. Luke's current contract with Sony Music made work with Universal Music Group (which covers "Idol") complicated. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, also has too many producing commitments to make the time needed for judging feasible. As the producer of such hits as Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" and "My Life Would Suck Without You," as well as non-"Idol" names like Pink and Katy Perry, Dr. Luke seemed like an ideal choice to identify and nurture pop talent on the show. The two remaining judges for "Idol" Season 13 -- Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban -- in contrast, are more associated with performance than... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/08/american-idol-dr-luke-will-not-judge-season-13.html

Randy Jackson Now Maybe Staying on American Idol

For reasons that surpass understanding, it looks like Randy Jackson is going to be back on Idol after all, even though he hasn't offered any meaningful guidance or advice in a very long time. But he won't be a judge again — according to Deadline, Jackson will be the new Idol house mentor, taking over for Jimmy Iovine, who is leaving the show.
