'America's Next Top Model' Alum Jael Strauss Addicted to Meth

Jael Strauss was once a beautiful 22-year-old finalist on cycle eight of America's Next Top Model , yet to see her now, one would never guess her aspirations of one day walking a runway. From an addiction to meth, and other drugs, Jael, now 28, has developed scars and rotted teeth. Jael's family has reached out to Dr. Phil, pleading for an intervention before there is no turning back. "Do the drugs get her and take her life, or do we get her and save her life?" asks Dr. Phil McGraw in the teaser for today's episode of Dr. Phil . As Jael enters the studio and notices all the people, she bolts and escapes to the parking lot in tears. How did such a promising talent succumb to drugs? //www.buddytv.com/articles/americas-next-top-model/americas-next-top-model-alum-j-47449.aspx

America's Next Top Model Preview: The (Runway) Walking Dead

In its 19 cycles, Top Model has covered a vast array of photo shoots to subject the models to. From the simplest of beauty shots to everything from nudity, food, animals, heights, and treadmills, the show has put each cast through the ringer and tested their ability to adapt to the most extreme of circumstances. This cycle, they've had to deal with a bikini shoot, a taxidermy shoot, and a nudity shoot, so what might be next on the agenda? If you guessed zombies, you're a pretty good guesser or you paid attention to the brief promo at the end of last week's episode. Top Model may have done a horror movie-influenced shoot during cycle 16, but they've never embraced the recent undead trend, which was shepherded into prominence by AMC's The Walking Dead. The behind the scenes video released by The CW features creative consultant Johnny at a neighborhood prime for something nefarious - it's very prototypical suburbia, though the house he comes from is a little broken down. All goes well until... ...a hoard of model-zombies (mombies?) emerge from the fog and try to, well, eat his hat or something. The shoot will be a lot darker than a typical Top Model shoot, which tends to be very bright and very exaggerated; cycle 19 has actively tried to fuse Top Model's past with what it's learned from its history, so perhaps we'll be getting more shoots like this in the near future. America's Next Top Model: College Edition airs Fridays at 8:00 on The CW. You can check out a recap of the most recent episode here and another preview for the upcoming episode here , as well as the TVOvermind America's Next Top Model discussion forum here . How do you think a zombie photo shoot on Top Model will turn out? Do you like that they're doing something a little darker? ANTM Model Jael Strauss is a "Full-Blown Meth Addict" (VIDEO)

Yikes. Jael Strauss took sixth place on America's Next Top Model Cycle 8 — the one where Jaslene Gonzalez won — back in 2007. Now the 28-year-old is reportedly suffering from an addiction to meth, and she's being featured on the Thursday, September 13 episode of Dr. Phil. In an episode preview, Dr. Phil refers to Jael as a "full-blown meth addict," but she physically resists coming to the set and doesn't seem to want Dr. Phil's help. The show looks pretty intense. America's Next Top Model Preview: Clap for Mommy, Baby

Immediately following a pretty fun makeover episode, Top Model has went to another one of its staple episodes to ease a lot of pre-cycle turnover: the acting episode. Year after year, the show has subjected its models to having to learn lines and try on different accents in order to prove their worth to the Top Model gods. In exchange for their attempted hyphenation, the winner would earn a walk-on/minor role in a TV show, which added a credit to her IMDB page and allowed her to dip her toe in the world of professional acting. In the preview for "The Girl Who Does What Tyler Perry Says", the girls are at the mercy of the industry heavyweight, as they're forced into elaborate costumes and have to parade around the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Tyra and Tyler are sequestered in a van nearby, plying them with outrageous suggestions and observing both how they handle a tough environment and how believable they are in their new role. The winner of the challenge will win a role in a Tyler Perry movie, arguably the most lucrative challenge reward that Top Model has put together. Previous acting challenges have found the models trying to master cockney, playing against Taye Diggs, and delivering complicated medical terms, with shows like Veronica Mars and CSI serving as showcases for the winner. Final Exam Interview with 'Top Model' Cast-Off Darian Ellis: 'I Didn't Try To Be Someone I'm Not'

Last Friday, the competition kicked into high fashion gear on America's Next Top Model: College Edition . The girls were given the opportunity to accept or deny their makeovers. Maria Tucker of Harvard University opted out and ultimately left the show. With another model gone, the question on everyone's mind was, "Will someone be eliminated?" Unfortunately, yes and that someone was Darian Ellis of LSU. Sure, Darian may have been somewhat swept under the drama radar, keeping her less talked about versus other models, but her eyes were steadily focused on the ultimate prize of model swag. She expresses, "I didn't try to be someone I'm not," and anyone could easily see that. With a strong walk and signature pouty lips, Darian shed her braids and left a mark on this wild and wacky Top Model cycle. I had the opportunity to give Darian a "final exam" interview, following her stint on the show. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insight with us! //www.buddytv.com/articles/americas-next-top-model/final-exam-interview-with-top-47376.aspx
