'Awkward' Season 2: Sadie gets some Matty action

Thank you to the character who gave us the ever snarky "You're welcome."Molly Tarlov, who plays mean girl Sadie, came up with what became her signature line on MTV's hit "Awkward" returning for a second season Thursday, June 28."Playing a character, I can't just be mean just for the hell of it," Tarlov tells Zap2it. "It has to come from a certain place. I see her as much more than a mean girl. She is insecure, funny and smart. She wants to keep everyone at arm's length, she's scared to let everyone in."PICS: Summer TV 2012 from 'The Bachelorette' to 'Breaking Bad'Sadie is that girl whose purpose seems to be to make everyone else's life miserable. She's particularly awful to the main character, Jenna, (Ashley Rickards) because Jenna manages to have the two most desirable boys, Jake and Matty (Bruce Davern and Beau Mirchoff) besotted."I am Team Matty," Tarlov says. "I really don't know what... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/06/awkward-season-2-sadie-gets-some-matty-action.html

Brett Davern knew from reading the script for the pilot that "Awkward" was a great show."It came up just like any other project for a young actor, just another audition," Davern tells Zap2it. "When I got the script initially the first time, I got it, I fell in love with it. Even in putting them in these over-the-top situations it was unlike any other teen show I read."Davern plays Jake, the blond all-around nice guy on MTV's teen comedy."In Season 1, he was there for Jenna when she needed him most," Davern says. "He is always that good guy. Deep down there is a whole range of emotions we have not seen yet."So in Season 2 (starting Sunday, June 28) does he become a brooding monster?"Season 2 is such a fan friendly season," Davern says. "It is everything Season 1 was but now it is on steroids -- the comedy, the drama, the different love... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/awkward-season-2-is-very-fan-friendly-says-team-jakes-brett-davern.html

Beau Mirchoff on the 'Awkward' finale: 'Matty's a little afraid that Jake will win in the end'

Perhaps the most surprising thing about television in 2011 was MTV's crop of scripted shows. Though some were more successful than others (the "Skins" vs. PTC battle ended ugly), one thing is for certain -- "Awkward" is a definite win for the network, proving that you don't need GTL for fantastic ratings. The one-hour Season 1 finale airs tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 27) and, like all good teen TV shows, the whole thing comes to a climax at the school dance. Don't miss the Zap2it Exclusive clip below, in which Jake (Brett Davern) unknowingly moves in on his best friend's girl.We spoke with series star Beau Mirchoff about what we can expect from Matty, Jake, and Jenna in the finale.Zap2it: In last week's episode, Matty and Jenna had the best first date ever. Was it nice to finally get to see what they're like together after playing will-they-won't-they all season?Mirchoff: Yeah, I was really looking forward to... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/09/beau-mirchoff-on-the-awkward-finale-mattys-a-little-afraid-that-jake-will-win-in-the-end.html

'Awkward.' Star Ashley Rickards Talks Finale Secrets, Jake and Matty Love Triangle and the Carefrontation Letter

Once in a rare while, a new teen comedy will come along that transcends clichés, ignores the urge to talk down to its audience, and leaves lazy dialogue for the laugh-track crowd. On the big screen, we were recently treated to 'Mean Girls' and 'Easy A,' but we've been long-overdue for a comedy the caliber of 'Awkward.' on TV. The writing is razor sharp, the emotions are relatable, and every character is so delightfully weird (in a believably teenage way), that it's impossible not to fall in love with them. But it's not a broadcast network that can boast of discovering this diamond in the rough -- it's MTV. Say what you will about 'Jersey Shore' and the failed translation of 'Skins,' I'm here to tell you that 'Awkward.' could go toe to toe with 'Modern Family' (or any other Emmy-winning comedy) and elicit more laughs in a half hour than anything the big four networks could offer, and not just in the teen demo. Ahead of tonight's season finale, AOL TV caught up with Ashley Rickards , star of the underrated comedy, to get her thoughts on the show's important message, the trials of a love triangle, and what fans can look forward to in season two. Mild spoilers ahead . //www.aoltv.com/2011/09/27/awkward-ashley-rickards-finale-interview/
