Eichiro and Takuma Egawa face off in a serving match. Eichiro has 50 serves to try and return a shot from Takuma. At first Eichiro can't even get to the shots, but slowly he begins to adapt and starts returning the shots foul. After 49 shots Eichiro has adapted to Takuma's speed, forcing Takuma to change his serve on his 50th shot. As the episode ends, Coach Miura asks Eichiro to have his first match in the upcoming Kanagawa Junior Circuit. This episode covers chapters 5, 6, and 7 in the manga.
