'Mythbusters' 'Breaking Bad': Methbusters prove and disprove 2 iconic Season 1 moments

For the "Breaking Bad" episode of "Mythbusters," creator Vince Gilligan and star Aaron Paul challenged the "methbusters" to go after two iconic Season 1 events of the popular AMC drama. The first one they took on was when Walt and Jesse were going to use hydrofluoric acid to dispose of a body in "Cat's in the Bag" -- and instead Jesse ate a hole through his upstairs bathroom and down onto the main floor below. In the first, smaller-scale experiment, it turns out the hydrofluoric acid only ate through the cast-iron and the drywall and did not completely get rid of the pig that was substituting for a human body. The steel, linoleum and wood were unaffected by the acid. The methbusters did find a mixture that would liquify a dead pig's body, like the body in the bathtub. It was made up of sulfuric acid and a "secret sauce" that turbo-charges the acid. 'Breaking Bad' return sets a ratings record, 'Low Winter Sun' has so-so debut

The return of "Breaking Bad" scored series-record ratings for AMC Sunday night (Aug. 11), drawing the show's biggest audience ever -- and more than doubling its previous high.Yes, doubling. A whole lot of people must have caught up with the series since the first half of Season 5 ended, because the show has never even come close to this big an overnight rating. Sunday's episode drew 5.9 million viewers; its previous high, for the fifth-season premiere in July 2012, was 2.9 million viewers."Breaking Bad" also drew 3.6 million people in the adults 18-49 demographic, making it the top show of the night in that measure, broadcast or cable.Following "Breaking Bad," new series "Low Winter Sun" premiered to 2.5 million people. That compares favorably to the series debuts of other AMC shows, including "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad," but it also lost close to 60 percent of its lead-in audience. The "Breaking Bad" recap show "Talking... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/08/breaking-bad-return-sets-a-ratings-record-low-winter-sun-has-so-so-debut.html

'Breaking Bad': Watch 'Mythbusters' put its science to the test

brightcove.createExperiences();Last year, "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan said in an interview that the show he'd most like to do a crossover episode with is "Mythbusters." Monday night (Aug. 12), he gets his wish. The Discovery Channel show takes on some of the science of "Breaking Bad" in a special airing at 10 p.m. ET Monday, a day after the AMC show began its final eight episodes. Gilligan and star Aaron Paul join Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman and the "Mythbusters" crew to talk through the experiments, as you can see in the clip above. One thing you won't learn on the special: how to cook methamphetamine. Gilligan and the show's writers have often said they leave a couple steps out of the process they show on TV, and at any rate, "Mythbusters" isn't in the business of teaching people how to make illegal drugs.Instead, the show tests a couple of moments from "Breaking Bad's" first season: Whether... Read More... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/08/breaking-bad-watch-mythbusters-put-its-science-to-the-test.html

'Breaking Bad' Creator Vince Gilligan Admits He Doesn't Like Walt

AMC continues their new tradition of talk shows for their biggest series. The premiere of " Talking Bad ," which will take fans through the final eight episodes of " Breaking Bad ," kicked off with show creator Vince Gilligan and bona fide superfan Julie Bowen . Host Chris Hardwick asked Gilligan if he still liked Walt. "Not so much, no. He’s kind of a bad dude," Gilligan responded. "I mean, that was kind of the whole point of it all, but at a certain point he’s harder and harder to symapthize with.” He then reiterated the pitch for the series, which is, "We’re gonna take Mr. Chips, we’re gonna turn him into Scarface.” But the " Modern Family " star was still rooting for Walt, despite all he's done. She said she can still sympathize with him because he "represents the greediness in all of us." She was literally hanging on every word coming out of Gilligan's mouth, looking for clues to upcoming episodes.  Read More... //feeds.huffingtonpost.com/~r/HP/Entertainment/~3/tKKnltnkdIA/breaking-bad-creator-vince-gilligan-like-walt-video_n_3742070.html
