'Buffy' and 'Caprica' Veterans Team Up for 'Husbands,' a Cheeky Web Series (VIDEO)

Couples going to Las Vegas and impulsively tying the knot while drunk is a longstanding ritual for both celebrities and civilians. Now that gay couples can get married, why shouldn't they be part of that tradition? That's the question that writer/performer Brad Bell and television writer/producer Jane Espenson ('Battlestar Galactica,' 'Game of Thrones,' 'Buffy') asked themselves when they were creating 'Husbands,' a web series that premieres Tuesday. In the 11-episode comedy, Bell and Sean Hemeon play a performer and a newly out major-league baseball player who get married in Vegas, only to wake up with hangovers and the realization that they don't know each other well. Alessandra Torresani , who's best known for playing Zoe Graystone on 'Caprica,' plays their frequently inebriated friend, Haley. //

Casting 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome'

Casting the role of a young William Adama is no easy task, so let's help Syfy out. The casting notices for the new 'Battlestar Galactica' prequel series, 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome' has gone out and there are three main characters in need of actors. Besides the 20-something, cocky, yet inexperienced Adama, TV Guide reports the series is casting one male and one female lead. It's the 10th year of the Cylon war and Adama's risky behavior leads to conflict with Electronic Countermeasures Officer, Coker Fasjovik. Coker Fasjovik is in his late 20s/mid-30s and "is weary after a long mission serving on Adama's first ship, a less-than-impressive Raptor called the Weasel."  The female lead, Beka, appears to have a nefarious plan; Coker Fasjovik suspects her, but Adama is on her side. So, who can tackle these roles? Let's dish. //

SyFy's New Battlestar Galactica Prequel Searches for Lead Roles

SyFy's new Battlestar Galactica prequel pilot, Blood & Chrome, has begun casting its three lead characters — roles that shed light on what this new show is about. The series is set in the tenth year of the first Cylon war and centers around hotshot rookie pilot William Adama (played by Edward James Olmos in the 2004-09 series) as he is assigned to Galactica, the Colonial fleet's newest battlestar. Adama will be in his early-to-mid 20s, and is described as Tom Cruise's character in Top Gun — a cocky and fearless jock. His experience as a fighter pilot thus far has been limited to simulations, but he can't wait to duke it out with the Cylons. His over-enthusiasm and risky maneuvers cause him to butt heads with the more experienced and cynical Electronic Countermeasures Officer, Coker Fasjovik. To Read More Click Here.

Syfy to Air Final Five Caprica Episodes Back-to-Back in January

Syfy will air the final five episodes of the recently canceled Caprica in January, Entertainment Weekly reports. The episodes are slated to air back-to-back on Tuesday, Jan. 4, starting at 6/5c. Syfy canceled Caprica last month due to low ratings for the second half of its first season. The Battlestar Galactica prequel takes place before the first Cylon wars — and 58 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica — and follows Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) and Daniel Graystone (Eric Stolz) through the creation of the robotic Cylons, who would later rebel against their masters for their enslavement. 'Caprica' stars respond to series axe

The stars of Caprica have responded to the show's recent axe on Twitter. It was recently announced that Syfy had decided to remove the Battlestar Galactica spinoff from its schedule with immediate effect. Series star Esai Morales (Joseph Adama) wrote: "I had an amazing time working on Caprica. We leave one we can stand behind. I'm humbled and honoured by your words of support and appreciate every one of you who've reached out to me." He added that fans "will not be disappointed in the events leading up to the Caprica finale". His co-star Sasha Roiz (Sam Adama) commented: "[Working on Caprica] was a wonderful experience that I will always cherish. I'll miss Sam and the world we created. Thanks again for following and supporting." Composer Bear McCreary and celebrity fan Simon Pegg also used Twitter to blast Syfy's decision. McCreary wrote: "RIP Caprica. So frustrating that it's cancelled right when the story arcs get really tight. Those last 6 eps are the best of the series." "Sad to hear Caprica got cancelled," agreed Pegg. "Shows just aren't given the opportunity to hit their... stride these days." The remaining five episodes of Caprica will air on Syfy in the first quarter of 2011. Source Here

Caprica is Cancelled

Well this is no surprise:  Caprica is canceled.  What is kind of surprising is that SyFy is not just canceling Caprica, they are actually pulling it from the schedule for the immediate future.  I’m guessing the thinking is they can get better sweeps numbers off reruns of something more popular, like … Dinoshark.  Here’s the official word from Syfy: The remaining first run episodes of Caprica – airing Tuesdays at 10/9c – will be removed from the schedule as of next Tuesday, November 2. These final five episodes of the season will be re-scheduled to air at a to be announced time in the first quarter of 2011, and will conclude the run of the series. To Read More Click here.
