The 2004 Oscar-nominated documentary “Autism Is a World” examines life from the perspective of autistic college student Sue Rubin. Thought to be mentally retarded until she was 13, Rubin, 26, is shown attending Whittier College, where she is a history major; and enjoying one of her favorite activities---betting on the horses at a racetrack.
