'Community' Season 5: 'The Office's' B.J. Novak to guest-star in the finale

"Community" has cast B.J. Novak to guest-star in the Season 5 finale this spring. "The Office" star will make a cameo playing himself.Other details about the role are spotty, but EW.com reports that Novak will be a "TV star in a sexy new series." Obviously, the series is not "The Office," not if "sexy" and "new" are the descriptors.Although there is no set date for the Season 5 finale -- which would double as the series finale if NBC doesn't go the "six seasons and a movie" route -- it is expected to air at some point in April. Novak will appear in the first half of the two-part final episode."Community" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on NBC and will return to the schedule on Feb. 27, following the Winter Olympics.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/community-season-5-the-offices-bj-novak-to-guest-star-in-the-finale.html

'Community' without Troy: Does 'Chaos Theory' say this is the Darkest Timeline?

The first "Community" episode after the loss of Troy Barnes (Donald Glover) isn't the best one. In fact, "Analysis of Cork-Based Networking" may be the weakest entry yet into an otherwise stellar Season 5. A procession of notable guest stars and another Greendale dance aren't enough to bring this episode up to the high bar set by the rest of the season. Why is that? The answer may be "Chaos Theory."Here's the thing: When Pierce Hawthorne left the study group and Greendale, there wasn't much effect. He was missing, sure, but the rest of the "Community" misfits moved on and did just fine. So why is Troy's departure so important? For an answer, we need only look back to Season 3's incredible "Remedial Chaos Theory." That bizarre episode features seven different stories set in seven different timelines. During a dinner party at Troy and Abed's new apartment, one of the study group has to go get... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/community-without-troy-does-chaos-theory-say-this-is-the-darkest-timeline.html

'Community': Nathan Fillion, Katie Leclerc and more aren't enough to replace Troy

"Community" has lost Troy Barnes, and not even a parade of high-end guest stars can fill the man's empty seat at the study-room table. It's too bad, because bringing in actors like Nathan Fillion, Katie Leclerc, Robert Patrick, Paget Brewster and more should have made "Analysis of Cork-Based Networking" one of the best "Community" episodes ever. As it is, the whole thing falls a bit flat.Guest stars, guest stars and more guest stars! The many guest actors on this installment of "Community" mainly people the various departments Annie and Professor Hickey must navigate in order to get a bulletin board hung in the cafeteria.Yes, this simple task is strangled by endless red tape and a corrupt system that runs throughout Greendale. Here's how it works:In order to hang a bulletin board, the custodians need a work order. The custodians -- led by characters played by Fillion and Kumail Nanjiani -- won't file the work order until... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/community-nathan-fillion-katie-leclerc-and-more-arent-enough-to-replace-troy.html

'Community' video: 'Switched at Birth's' Katie Leclerc meets Abed

Troy may be gone, but "Community" has a replacement friend for Abed (Danny Pudi) coming right away. "Switched at Birth" star Katie Leclerc guest stars on "Analysis of Cork-Based Networking."If you ever wanted to know how to say "I detonated a mollusk" in American Sign Language, this is obviously the episode for you. It's unfortunate for any budding friendship between Leclerc's character and Abed that relationships are founded on more than crustacean violence. So why is Abed wearing giant headphones that don't allow him to hear anything? It seems that the young man is now obsessed with a book series (think "Game of Thrones") and wants to avoid any spoilers. The result is a possible match made in silent heaven. "Community" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/community-video-switched-at-births-katie-leclerc-meets-abed.html
