Dancing with the Stars Backstage Report: The "Alleycat" Underdog

Yes, Kirstie Alley got the lowest scores of the evening. And no, she didn't have a marching band like Hines Ward or do death-defying lifts like Chelsea Kane. But she still has a very strong shot at winning Dancing With the Stars . Why? Because the studio audience — usually a very accurate barometer of viewers as a whole — wasn't just a little upset with her scores for Monday nights' samba and freestyle (a total of 54 out of 60), they were thoroughly ticked ... //www.tvguide.com/News/Dancing-Stars-Backstage-1033448.aspx?rss=breakingnews

Jonas Brothers Support Chelsea Kane in Audience at DWTS Finals

Remember on the Dancing With the Stars Season 12 premiere when Chelsea Kane said yes, she did kiss Joe Jonas and It didnt suck? Good times. Nick and Joe Jonas returned to the DWTS ballroom Monday to support Chelsea in her bid for the Mirror Ball trophy. Chelsea played Stella Malone in the Disney Channel show Jonas LA and shes tight with the JoBros. She definitely has their fan base supporting her and maybe they got her the win. The votes are already in at this point, but we have one more dance... //feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/S1G3_Dsh9eM/jonas-brothers-support-chelsea-kane-in-audience-at-dwts-finals

'Dancing With the Stars': Hines Ward heads from the finale to surgery

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward came into Season 12 of "Dancing With the Stars" with a bit of a handicap. He'd undergone knee surgery just a few weeks prior to starting rehearsals. That clearly didn't stopped him from dominating the competition throughout its 10-week run. But as the mirrorball trophy front-runner told Zap2it after the first night of the finals, it's not the last procedure he'll need before the next football season. "I'll be in surgery next week," he told press. "I was supposed to do it before 'Dancing With the Stars.'"Don't worry about Hines, though. It's just a finger. He tore the ligament in his left thumb at the end of last season. "I'll be healed and ready," he says of his July football training. Hines actually didn't expect he'd have to put the surgery off as long as he did -- mostly because he didn't expect to make it this far in... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/dancing-with-the-stars-hines-ward-heads-from-the-finale-to-surgery.html

'Dancing With the Stars': Kirstie Alley's weight loss demands costume alterations

Do you remember Kirstie Alley's Cha Cha Cha way back in week 1 of "Dancing With the Stars?" Of course you do. It was one of her best performances throughout all of Season 12 and made her an early contender for a spot in the finale. So naturally, she and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy chose it as their encore dance for the May 24 finale. You'll likely notice one big difference, though. She'll be wearing that same dress, only taken in quite a bit. "I don't know," she told Zap2it backstage after the penultimate episode of the season. "There's got to be like 30-some inches taken out of it... It's like all the way up and here and here and boobs!"As you might guess, Kirstie spent her explanation gesturing to the many parts of her body that have shrunk during her 13 weeks dancing with Maks. She's still not dropping a number or an exact dress... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/dancing-with-the-stars-kirstie-alleys-weight-loss-demands-costume-alterations.html

'Dancing With the Stars' Diary: Hines Ward and Chelsea Kane tie it up in the finals

Zap2it's weekly "'Dancing with the Stars' Diary" offers fans a backstage pass to everybody's favorite only reality competition that throws celebrities at the mercy of that fickle mistress we call dance.Lord (of Dance Michael Flatley) only knows how we ended up at the finals so quickly, but another season of "Dancing With the Stars" has reached its fevered climax. And as history dictates, the final three --  Kirstie Alley, Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward -- tackled two routines: a "redemption" dance for something that failed to impress the judges earlier on the season and the freestyle (aka Dance Christmas). At the end of the night, the scoreboard didn't surprise me much at all, but the freestyle did prompt a bit of an epiphany. Can Season 12 end in a tie? Hines and Chelsea are almost too good to distinguish a clear winner from. No offense to Kirstie. Thoughts on all of the dances, instant reactions from... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/dancing-with-the-stars-diary-hines-ward-and-chelsea-kane-tie-it-up-in-the-finals.html

'Dancing With the Stars': Hines Ward's final performances

A pair of perfect scores last week made Hines Ward the frontrunner going into Monday's (May 23) "Dancing With the Stars" finals. Did he live up to that billing?Pretty much, yes. The Pittsburgh Steelers wideout was assigned a quickstep for his judges' choice dance and got some footwork advice from Len Goodman beforehand. Hines and partner Kym Johnson (still wearing a neck brace in rehearsals, by the way) showed big improvement over their previous quickstep, scoring a 29 out of 30 from the judges. Len gave the lone 9 but noted the strides Hines has made.Hines and Kym's freestyle was done to a song from "Drumline," and he was dressed like a drum major. Despite the slightly goofy outfit, though, he and Kym nailed the dance, earning a perfect score and tying Chelsea Kane for the lead at the end of the hour. "That wasn't just a halftime show, that was the whole damn Super... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/dancing-with-the-stars-hines-wards-final-performances.html

'Dancing With the Stars': Kirstie Alley's final performances

Kirstie Alley might have turned in the most surprising performance on Monday's (May 23) final "Dancing With the Stars" performance show. But was it among the night's best?Like Chelsea Kane, who preceded her on the floor, Kirstie was given the samba as her judges' choice dance. It was very different in style from Chelsea's -- a fact the judges acknowledged -- but nearly as good, by their scorecards. Len Goodman said there was "a lovely naturalness about it." She scored three 9s from the judges for a total of 27.The surprise came in her freestyle. Her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy said in a pre-taped piece that he was incorporating a few lifts because it was expected, but he may have been rope-a-doping a little, because their routine, which started off with a slower tempo, was as gymnastic as either of the other two finalists'. The judges were surprised (maybe even a little shocked) and hugely appreciative... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/dancing-with-the-stars-kirstie-alleys-final-performances.html
