'Deadliest Catch' narrator Mike Rowe offers an 'Alternative Catch' commentary on a fishing father and son

If Mike Rowe wrote his own narration, "Deadliest Catch" might be a very different show.Via his Facebook page, the former "Dirty Jobs" host, who has done double duty as the narrator of Discovery's crab-fishing reality juggernaut since its earliest days, decided to give his own voiceover commentary a tweak.Apparently he wasn't entirely satisfied with how the description of a conflict between fishing vessel Capt. "Wild Bill" Wichrowski and his deckhand son, Zack Larson, was written.Rowe posted: "Last week on 'Deadliest Catch,' some of you will recall that Zack Larson on the Cape Caution was pretty well lambasted by the narration. Frankly, I'm sympathetic, and want to make good on my offer to present a different view of what might have been broadcast. Nothing about the original scene has been altered but the narration.Tell me if you think it makes a difference ... Every Tuesday night, fans of Discovery Channel's hit reality series "Deadliest Catch" watch selected boats from Alaska's crab-fishing fleet head out onto the Bering Sea to haul in king and opilio crab for domestic and foreign consumption. One of those boats is the F/V Time Bandit, skippered by brothers Johnathan (for king crab) and Andy (for opilio) Hillstrand."We're farmers of the sea," Johnathan Hillstrand tells Zap2it. "If there's lots of crabs, like apples, your price goes down. If there's not so many crabs, or oranges or apples, your price goes up. Same with us. They can be easy to harvest or not easy to harvest. You can have the right weather or not."So we're farmers of the sea."While a lot of the drama of the show comes from the personality clashes of the crab boat crews during months at sea in close quarters, things are more harmonious on the Time Bandit than other boats.
