Life After 'Desperate Housewives': What's Next For the Cast

Millions of viewers tuned in to say goodbye to the  Desperate Housewives  on Sunday, May 13 after eight seasons. Although there must have been lots of tears, ( Felicity Huffman   predicted  she would be "crying in Eva's arms" watching the finale) series endings also mean good things for cast and crew members, including family time and new projects.  Eva Longoria  (Gabrielle): The curtain has closed on Wisteria Lane, but the actress, producer and activist Longoria will remain busy. Fulfilling her role, in what  she expressed  to  The Hollywood Reporter  as "The most important election in my lifetime," as one of  President Obama’s national co-chairs . In the Obama for America movement, she will be traveling to swing states specifically engaging Latin Americans and women to support Obama for re-election. "So when the election comes, it’s going to be a pretty clear choice if you’re a woman, if you’re Latino – it’s going to be very clear who’s on your side." Longoria has also begun to focus more on some producing projects. One of them is producing NBC’s upcoming dating series,  Ready for Love , as well as co-producing with Housewives creator  Marc Cherry  on the soapy drama pilot,  Devious Maids , for ABC. 'Desperate Housewives': Saying Goodbye To Wisteria Lane

Even though " Desperate Housewives " (Sun., 9 p.m. ET on ABC) signed off with a two-hour series finale, it was very definitely two distinct episodes. The first hour wrapped Bree's trial and set the stage for the long farewell to Wisteria Lane and the women that touched each other's lives over the past eight seasons. Karen McCluskey accepted hospice care, as she prepared to live out her final moments at home. But she made sure she went out with an impact on the friends who'd embraced her after hearing Gaby and Carlos talking about what really happened. So she took to the stand and confessed to the murder herself. It was chaos, but it worked. Bree was let off, and because of her age and health, no charges were pressed against Karen. That left the women without that specter looming over them as they prepared to say goodbye to Susan, and what turned out to be this chapter in their lives for all four women. Within a few years, none of them would be living on Wisteria Lane. Lynette followed her dreams to New York and a huge job offer from Katherine. Susan was off to help raise her granddaughter. Bree marries her lawyer and winds up in the Kentucky state legislature. Gaby finds success with her own show on the Home Shopping Network. But before it all wound down, Susan took a final circle of the block, where she was watched by the ghosts of former residents -- save for Nicolette Sheridan's Edie -- as Mary Alice sets up the next generation of secrets and intrigue with the woman who bought Susan's house. 'Desperate Housewives' series finale: One last trip down Wisteria Lane

So, cards on the table: It's been a good couple seasons since we paid any kind of close attention to the ins and outs of "Desperate Housewives," which we suspect puts us among at least a sizable chunk of the audience watching Sunday's (May 13) series finale. What we were primarily interested in was how the show would leave the four women who have been such a big part of the television landscape over the past eight seasons. The answer: In a pretty good place, for both the show and its characters. As subversive as the show loved being about the conventions of nighttime soaps, it always took the side of its main characters. Happy endings, with a touch of sadness, were about what we expected, and creator Marc Cherry and Co. delivered pretty nicely. The big plot engine of the past few episodes -- Bree's trumped-up murder trial -- ends less than halfway through the two-hour... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/05/desperate-housewives-series-finale-one-last-trip-down-wisteria-lane.html

Top Moments: Castle's Big Kiss and Nina Dobrev Shows Conan Yoga

Our top moments of the week: 12. Worst Side-Stepping: Who says that Teri Hatcher is estranged from her Desperate Housewives co-stars? Certainly not Eva Longoria , who, during an appearance on Late Show with David Letterman , semi-convincingly reports, "We all get along." Dave isn't buying it, of course, and presses on. "Didn't one get fired?" he asks. (We think he means Nicollette Sheridan .) "Yes, I forgot about that one," Longoria responds. "She didn't get fired. ... She died on the show!" So that's what that pesky multi-million dollar lawsuit was all about! //www.tvguide.com/News/TopMoments-Castle-Kiss-Nina-Dobrev-Conan-1047352.aspx?rss=breakingnews
