Fargo (FX) Series Finale 2014 Review “Morton’s Fork”

What did I expect from  Fargo ‘s finale? I have been asking myself that question all afternoon. The season itself was an absorbing experience. The journey was winding, contemplative, exquisitely dark and captivating, so much so that when it came time for the story– the parable, is probably a better way to describe  Fargo  –to end, I had no concrete idea of what I wanted. A Lester/Malvo showdown? Molly taking out both men who plagued her? A vague  No Country For Old Men  style fade to black? All of these thoughts crossed my mind. The thought that never occurred to me was  Fargo  was playing a long con on us, the viewers. In the end, this story was as much about Gus as it was about Molly, maybe even more so. Fargo Showrunner Noah Hawley on the Finale and His Plans for Season 2

Requisite spoiler warning: The Fargo finale is full of many wonderful surprises. If you havent yet seen it, turn around and come back later. And you might want to read our recap before you do.   FXs adaptation of Fargo turned out to be a marvel, at once familiar to those whove watched and rewatched the original Coen brothers film, yet wholly original. As in the 1996 classic, Tuesdays extra-long and extra-bloody finale found the bad guys paying for their sins, the decent folks of Bemidji going back to life as usual, and us a little bummed about having to stop playing in the snow. For extra closure, we rang up executive producer Noah Hawley to discuss how he chose to tie up the various threads before heading off to season two, which, like HBOs True Detective ,will focus on an entirely new story and set of characters. We also got the story behind episode sevens wild, one-shot Malvo massacre andalso asked about Bills adopted Sudanese son, since that whole thing was the best.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2014/06/noah-hawley-fargo-season-finale-postmortem.html

Fargo Season Finale Recap: Frozen Dope

This recap covers the season finale of FXs Fargo, and spoilers so obviously abound that it should go without mention. Click through if youve watched it; otherwise we encourage you to come back later.   A veritable high noon is fast approaching in Bemidji, and everybodys armed and ready. Lorne, requisite arsenal in tow, is committed to tying up loose ends and taking more lives. Lesters emptied the contents of Chazzs fateful hunting-gear box, rightly anticipating a duel with his adversary. Lous camped out on the Grimlys porch with a shotgun, adamant about avoiding another Sioux Falls (whatever it is that actually happened in the winter of 1979). Gretas got his back, joining him on watch with a rifle. The entire local PDs been instructed to aid on-site G-Men Budge and Pepper, even though, as Chief Oswalt laments, Most of these guys cant shoot a can off a fence. In fact, Bill might be the only soul not chomping at the bit for some closure. Hes too shaken by the inhumanity, so burdened by what his wife calls an unquiet mind (oh, that Mrs. Oswalt), that he can barely muster the conviction to lead.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2014/06/fargo-recap-season-1-finale-lester-malvo.html
