TV ratings: 'NYC 22' has a so-so premiere as CBS wins a quiet Sunday

Fast National ratings for Sunday, April 15, 2012The series premiere of "NYC 22" pulled in a decent number of viewers for CBS Sunday, but its adults 18-49 rating (1.5) was pretty soft and well below what "CSI: Miami" averaged in the same timeslot earlier in the season. On the upside for the new show -- kind of, anyway -- is the fact that nothing on broadcast TV Sunday drew all that well among the coveted 18-49 demographic. None of the four networks even broke the 2.0 mark in primetime.CBS led the night's overall race with 9.7 million viewers and a 6.2 rating/10 share in households. NBC (6.5 million, 4.2/7) came in second. ABC scored 4.8 million viewers and a 3.0/5 to finish third, beating out FOX (3.8 million, 2.2/4).CBS also topped the 18-49 demo, albeit with just a 1.8 rating. FOX (1.7) and NBC (1.6) were close behind, and ABC brought up the rear with... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/tv-ratings-nyc-22-has-a-so-so-premiere-as-cbs-wins-a-quiet-sunday.html

Actors pick up accents, gain weight or walk differently for roles, whatever they need to do to make the characters believable.Karen Olivo learned to drive for her role as Cassie on NBC's "Harry's Law."A Bronx native who spent much of her childhood in Florida, Olivo picked an apartment near the show's Burbank, Calif., studio so she could bike to work. She laughs recalling how surprised some studio bosses were that she couldn't drive."I am a New Yorker," she tells Zap2it, referring to the city where mass transportation is the preferred mode of getting around. "So I had to just rush and get it. A couple of long days at work, and getting in the car and driving is really therapeutic."Though this is her first regular series role, Olivo likens the experience to being an understudy on Broadway, where she had to learn multiple roles and be ready at a moment's notice."I relate it to my life... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/harrys-law-forces-karen-olivo-to-learn-how-to-drive.html

TV Ratings: Figure skating just can't take CBS down

While a rerun of "Harry's Law" took the top spot in the first hour of primetime on Saturday with a little under 4 million viewers, NBC couldn't hold onto it's lead. CBS ruled the rest of the night with "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (another rerun) which had over 5 million viewers and a 3.1 rating and a 5 share, beating "Blades of Glory" and "U.S. Figure Skating Championship.""UFC on Fox" came in second place with just under 5 million and a 2.6 percent rating. From 10-11, "48 Hours Mystery" kept CBS in first place with 6.5 million viewers and a 4.4 share. Among 18-49 year olds, ABC's "Wipeout" (a rerun) was tops from 8-9. "Blades of Glory" grabbed their interest for the rest of the night. You have to admire ABC's sense of humor, airing this Will Ferrell comedy opposite the "U.S. Figure Skating Championship."Saturday hour by hour:8 p.m.NBC: "Harry's Law" rerun (4.0 million, 2.8/5)ABC:... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/01/tv-ratings-figure-skating-just-cant-take-cbs-down.html
