With spring coming, Jamie is facing a backlog of bills and heavy pressure to cut costs by laying off some of his staff. When a semi full of mail goes off a cliff, Adam and the weary crew are sent out to unload and recover it. But a long season has everyone's tempers on edge. When a winter-worn cable snaps, narrowly missing Adams head, Jamie's most senior driver threatens to go on strike. Jamie's teenage son Brandon isn't any help on the big wrecks, and seems distracted by a new girlfriend. Jamie offers the irritable teen his own truck for next season. But Brandon's first towing lesson makes it obvious to Jamie that this kid is no heir apparent. The season comes to a bitter end when Jamie finally bites the bullet and sends two of his guys packing to the unemployment line.
