A woman wakes up on a canoe boat with no memory of how she got there but finds a man on shore who leaves when she asks for help. She makes her way to shore in a catatonic state and is found by a park ranger who identifies her as Jackie, a former veteran and she is taken to hospital. The doctor believes her to be using heroin when they find signs of it on her arm but she leaves before they can confront her about it. Jackie is taken to a bar called Skins, which she found in her coat to find out who she is and how she ended up in the state. At the bar, Jackie is confronted by a bar employee before she is lead to a vacant motel room where she finds medicine belonging to Geist, money, a credit card and a photo of Jackie in her military days. Jackie also discovers her military tattoo to be temporary before she is knocked out by the stranger who has been helping her. On a farm, Leonard Geist discovers a fruit, possibly the origin of the memory erasing drug.
