While initiating his plan, Kakyoin recalls his lonely childhood, feeling thankful for all the experiences he shared with Jotaro and the others. Reducing Heirophant Green's presence, Kakyoin traps DIO in Heirophant Green's barrier, surrounding him with wires that automatically attack once touched. However, the moment DIO activates his Stand, Kakyoin is blown away, receiving fatal injuries. In his final moments, Kakyoin deduces the nature of The World's ability, using his final Emerald Splash to smash a clockface as a clue for Joseph before passing away. Using this clue, Joseph figures out that DIO has the power to stop time, during which he alone can move around freely. Realising there are some limits to DIO's power, Joseph rushes to warn Jotaro about The World's power before DIO catches up to him, stabbing his neck with a knife. Angered, Jotaro ignores Joseph's warning to keep his distance and instead confronts DIO in a close range Stand battle.
