Kobayashi tells Josuke and Koichi about a Stand user in their school named Toshikazu Hazamada who allegedly caused his friend to gouge his eye out. While investigating Hazamada's locker, Josuke comes across a wooden dummy which turns out to be Hazamada's Stand, Surface, which turns into a copy of Josuke and takes control of his movements. As Hazamada plans to use his copy of Josuke to draw out Jotaro, Josuke is saved by Koichi after he uses Echoes to trick Hazamada into thinking Josuke had stabbed himself, and the two use their respective abilities to reach Jotaro before Hazamada can reach him. Hazamada attempts to take control of Josuke and have him kill Jotaro, but he is stopped in the nick of time by some bikers that he had attacked earlier.
