The Kotetsujo arrives in Kongokaku, with Ayame claiming to have captured Biba following his actions Iwato Station. In reality, she is being blackmailed by Biba to do this, with the rest of her crew being held hostage. Biba is then taken to his father, who activates a trap on the dagger (originally a gift from Shogun to Biba) that infects the Shogun with the Kabane virus, forcing the soldiers to shoot him. Biba announces to the station via radio that the Kabane have learned to take human form and are already within the station while secretly having his Hunters infect bystanders to incite chaos. The Hunters bring the Kokujo into the station where it releases even more Kabane while Ayame escapes with the help of her uncle. Biba injects Mumei with serum like he did with Horobi, turning her into a Nue. Elsewhere, Ikoma awakens and is reunited with Kurusu and his captive, one of Biba's scientists. Upon learning of Biba's plans with Mumei, Ikoma attaches his bolt gun in place of his severed arm and takes the same black serum that turned Horobi and Mumei into Nues in order to augment his own power (destroying his restraint in the process) sufficiently to save Mumei with a white serum that will reverse the effects of the black and kill Biba.
