Last Night on Late Night: David Letterman Skewered Shia LaBeouf On The Alec Baldwin Beef

Last night on the Late Show , David Letterman executed another interview so perfectly, he had Shia LeBeouf sputtering over the beef with Alec Baldwin , whom the actor still faults for his firing from the Broadway play Orphans . Among the things Letterman teased out of the recently spurned actor: LaBeouf and Baldwin experienced "differences as men," not as artists, mind you, but as men; that front-row seat at the Orphans play was the only one he could get his hands on; and he even delivered a reconciliation speech — "Alec, I think you're awesome, man. That's it, you know. That's it." Plus: Emilia Clarke expressed self-criticism with her CGI acting, which might have proven more difficult in this season of Game of Thrones because her dragons are definitely getting "bigger, badder and better." Also, Kristen Schaal seemed miffed by Jay Leno's comment on her lisp; and Seth Rogen recounted his alcohol-, marijuana-, Whopper-induced "seizure" that had fetched the paramedics to the airport runway. David Letterman grills Brian Williams about NBC's 'Today' drama

David Letterman has some theories about why there's been so much focus on whether Jay Leno will leave "The Tonight Show" at NBC. According to what he propositions to "Rock Center's" Brian Williams, it's all been done to take the focus off of the drama at "Today." "One thing led to another and then there was Matt Lauer, who everybody loved -- where in the world is Matt Lauer?" Letterman asks. "Trouble. Had something to do with Ann Curry. It was crazy so NBC said 'We gotta put an end to this because it's the 'Today Show.' So now they come up with these crazy stories about the other end of the programming day, the 'Tonight Show.' So now all that conversation comes up to get people's minds off that Matt Lauer stuff. If I'm on to something, blink twice." Williams, who seemed beyond uncomfortable during Letterman's proposition, refused to blink or acknowledge the... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/david-letterman-grills-brian-williams-about-nbcs-today-drama.html

Last Night on Late Night: Brian Williams, Flummoxed by Dave Letterman's NBC Cover-Up Accusation

Last night on The Late Show , Dave Letterman had the calm and cool Brian Williams so flummoxed he wished he was dreaming up the whole interview. But still, Letterman homed in on the Matt Lauer - Ann Curry Today Show fallout. "It was crazy so NBC said 'We gotta put an end to this because it's the Today Show.' So now they come up with these crazy stories about the other end of the programming day, the Tonight Show ." Meanwhile, Brian Williams blinked, grimaced, drank some water, and uttered an "Oh, good Lord." Until Letterman cued him for confirmation — "Now, if I'm onto something, blink twice." At which point Williams restored his serious face. Plus: Kid Cudi performed "Immortal" off of his latest album, INDICUD, due out April 23. Although why he'd decided to debut an a capella version of "Mad Solar" on the live set is up for questioning. (The recorded album, however, might make for a more, uh, mellifluous listen.) Also, Chris Hardwick and Jimmy Fallon dueled with light sabers, and Vanessa Hudgens confessed she takes beauty tips (literally) from Rihanna. David Letterman Reveals to James Franco Why He Banned Harmony Korine (Video)

Pushed by the "Spring Breakers" star, the "Late Show" host explains why his program banned the offbeat filmmaker a decade and a half ago. //feedproxy.google.com/~r/thr/television/~3/pVjyWktNsls/story01.htm

Last Night on Late Night: The Real Reason David Letterman Banned Harmony Korine

Last night on The Late Show , James Franco was out touting Spring Breakers and the "revolutionary" work of its maker, Harmony Korine, whom David Letterman had banned in 1998, for reasons only speculated until yesterday. "I went upstairs [to the green room] to greet Meryl Streep," recounted Letterman. "I looked around and found your friend, Harmony, going through her purse." Apparently, that wasn't the version of the story that Harmony had told James Franco, who, in spite of his surprise, still came to his friend's defense. "I think he had a period where he was going a little off the rails, so maybe he was on something that night." But he is "a very sane guy now." And with that fervent recommendation from Professor Franco, Letterman rescinded the ban. And all rumors of Meryl Streep getting shoved can now be put to rest. Plus: The lights went out on Late Night . And Jimmy Fallon glided over that glitch with the finesse of a Tonight Show host. Also, the Game of Thrones cast were in full promotion mode ahead of its March 31 return: Peter Dinklage had Jon Stewart cracking up over a Medieval raven impression, and Jimmy Kimmel embarrassed poor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. You just can't hide from your past nowadays. Watch our compilation to see what you missed. //www.vulture.com/2013/03/why-david-letterman-really-banned-harmony-korine.html
