The Most Important Shows on TV: Week of May 18, 2015

Which TV series will your friends (and the entire internet) be talking about this week? Stay informed—or at least be able to fake it—with SideReel's weekly guide to The Most Important Shows on TV.   The Bachelorette (Season Premiere) Monday at 8:00pm on ABC Why: Because it's The Bachelorette: Beyond Thunderdome ; two girls (and 25 guys) enter, and one girl (and one guy... presumably) leaves. Seems pretty cruel, I mean, these ladies are just looking for love in the WORST POSSIBLE PLACE and they can't even guarantee that they'll have the opportunity to humiliate themselves for an entire season! Anyway, whatever. If you're looking for girl power, go see Mad Max: Fury Road (seriously), because you ain't really gonna find it here. On the other hand, you will find men in cupcake outfits, so there's that. Prepare to talk about: Which dude has the lamest best entrance... aside from cupcake man, that is; whether these ladies would be better off on OKCupid where most people are insane but at least not cupcake costume-insane; which lady should be "lucky" enough to continue for the full season.   Keeping Up With the Kardashians Monday at 9:00pm on E! Why: Because this is the second half of the "About Bruce" two-parter, and Bruce has proven to be the most important, influential, and inwardly beautiful of the Kardashian Klan (probs because Kris wasn't his mom). Normally I'd never put KUWTK on this list, but this is a legitimately important thing. Prepare to talk about: How Bruce is the best! How all of the Kardashian women need to stop talking like sexy babies; how Ryan Seacrest is inadvertently responsible for this watershed moment of gender identity understanding in popular culture.     Late Show With David Letterman (Series Finale) Wednesday at 11:35pm on CBS Why: Because... he's David F**kin Letterman, and he's calling it quits after many, many, many years. He's the last of a dying breed, and one of the best interviewers in the business. He gave the world the Monkey Cam and Stupid Human Tricks (and my personal favorite, Will It Float?)! This is our generation's version of Johnny Carson retiring (ask your great-grandparents). Prepare to talk about: Honestly, just talk about how devastated you are, because—damn it—you should be.     Leah E. Friedman  is the editor of SideReel.com. You can follow her musings on  Twitter .
