'Longmire': Walt Is Outmatched By A Suspect

The mix of classic Western-style ideals in a modern lawman may seem familiar to fans of "Justified," but the format is showing that it has legs. A&E has found similar success with " Longmire " (Sun., 10 p.m. ET on A&E). The series has proven solid enough in the ratings to earn a second season . "Longmire" premiered with 4.15 million viewers, enough to make it the network's highest-rated original series premiere of all time. A lot of that has to do with the earnest portrayal of lead Walt Longmire by Robert Taylor . He embodies the gruff but passionate demeanor of an Old West lawman, harkening back to a simpler -- if more dangerous time -- when the division between right and wrong was much clearer. Of course, that's no longer the case, as seen in this week's episode when Walt tried to subdue a suspect who it turns out wasn't guilty at all. He was, however, guilty of assaulting an officer of the law, after he charged Walt. Clearly the lawman wasn't intimidating at all. And while viewers didn't get to see the altercation, they did get to see the aftermath. Walt may have held his own, but he didn't win that one. "Longmire" continues its inaugural run Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on A&E. TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser. //feeds.huffingtonpost.com/~r/HP/Entertainment/~3/zYAXTYSn1Pc/longmire-walt-finds-himself-outmatched-suspect-video_n_1642324.html

'Longmire' Season 2 picked up by A&E

A&E has picked up a second season of its western drama "Longmire," Deadline has confirmed. Only four episodes have aired, but the Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff-led series has gotten off to a great start in the ratings. With 4.1 million viewers tuning in for the debut, "Longmire" had A&E's most-watched scripted series debut ever. Subsequent episodes have averaged 3.9 million live viewers, which certainly is nothing to sneeze at. The show is still in production on its first season, so the early pickup is a clear vote of confidence from the network. "Longmire" is based on mystery novels written by Craig Johnson, who tells Zap2it that though it's been bizarre for him to see his work come to life on-screen, he's thrilled with Taylor's work. "I think they did the right thing [casting him], because you look at Robert, and you get this feeling that you've seen him somewhere before," Johnson said. "It's that... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/06/longmire-season-2-picked-up-by-ae.html
