Jon Hamm costars in this made-for-HBO movie, written by and starring Larry David as a business man who loses out on miliions, and sets out for revenge. Go to episode » 9:00PM on HBO Sunday's Picks Breaking Bad Oh man. We’ve been waiting for this for so long, and now we’re almost sad that it’s finally here since it means in eight weeks it will be gone forever! But we won’t dwell on that. Instead, we’ll relish every minute as we pray for both Walt’s comeuppance AND redemption. Go to episode » 9:00PM on AMC Low Winter Sun Perhaps this new series will help fill the void when BB leaves us. Based on a British series of the same name , and starring the same lead actor (Mark Strong), playing an American version of the same role, it’s centered on corrupt cops and the criminal underworld of Detroit. Go to episode » 10:00pm on AMC Talking Bad Yes, it’s a little silly to air a talk show about a series an hour after said show finished airing, but for whatever reason, AMC has decided to air Breaking Bad at 9pm instead of 10pm. Hopefully you’ll actually remember what happened on tonight’s episode by the time this comes around. Short attention spans! We haz them. Go to episode » 11:00PM on AMC

'Low Winter Sun' premiere: What did you think of AMC's new drama?

AMC gave its new series "Low Winter Sun" a very good chance to get off to a strong start Sunday (Aug. 11), putting the series premiere behind the return of "Breaking Bad" -- and making fans of the latter show wait until midway through "Low Winter Sun's" debut to see the teaser for next week. The question, though, is will those fans -- will you -- come back for episode 2?"Low Winter Sun" arrives at a time when a number of TV critics are suffering from antihero fatigue, and many of the middling reviews for the show have noted as much. The show is another in cable's long line of dramas with dark, conflicted main characters, in this case Detroit detective Frank Agnew (Mark Strong), who in the first few minutes of the series premiere kills a fellow cop. Frank's partner Joe Geddes (Lennie James) hatched the plot, and he seems to have gone farther down... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/08/low-winter-sun-premiere-what-did-you-think-of-amcs-new-drama.html

'Low Winter Sun' premiere: Lennie James plays opposite 'dangerous' Detroit

In 2006, Britain's Channel 4 aired a dark two-part TV movie called "Low Winter Sun" starring Mark Strong ("Zero Dark Thirty,"?"Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy") as one of two police officers in Edinburgh, Scotland, who conspire to murder a fellow officer and then discover that nothing is as it seems.Starting Sunday, Aug. 11, AMC airs a 10-episode American adaptation of "Low Winter Sun" set in in the former industrial titan of Detroit.Strong reprises his role as Detective Frank Agnew; Lennie James ("Jericho,"?"The Walking Dead") plays his partner in crime, Detective Joe Geddes. Also starring are James Ransone, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Sprague Grayden, Athena Karkanis, Billy Lush and David Costabile; Erika Alexander has a recurring role.Ironically, along with Strong playing an American, the British-born James continues his run of American TV roles. Playing a police detective and former Jesuit seminarian who turns to the dark side intrigued him."I like his history," James tells Zap2it, "of being a man... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/08/low-winter-sun-premiere-lennie-james-plays-opposite-dangerous-detroit.html

Low Winter Sun, AMC's Latest Morality Tale, "Meanders In and Out of Truth and Lies"

It's fitting that  Low Winter Sun , AMC's gritty adaptation of the 2006 British miniseries about crooked cops, is premiering immediately after  Breaking Bad  this Sunday. Both shows are examinations of deeply flawed men fumbling their way through situations that cause both the characters and viewers to question their own notions of morality.       //www.tvguide.com/News/Low-Winter-Sun-AMC-Mark-Strong-Lennie-James-Chris-Mundy-1069033.aspx?rss=breakingnews

'Low Winter Sun' Review: Like 'Breaking Bad' Without Bite or Wit

A "Breaking Bad" set in the seedy underbelly of Detroit, "Low Winter Sun" wears its parallels to the AMC show that precedes it on its grimy sleeve. The series debuts post-"Bad" Sunday evening with a dynamic familiar to fans of that show: Two morally ambiguous men kill a man and then argue over how to dispose of the body.  Read More...   //www.thewrap.com/movies/tv/column-post/low-winter-sun-review-breaking-bad-without-bite-or-wit-108326

‘Low Winter Sun’ Premiere Teaser: Catch the First 5 Minutes Now

Well that’s a first– cop shows usually don’t  start  out by establishing their  leads  as murderers. AMC’s has released the first five minutes of  Low  Winter Sun , their new Detroit set cop drama, and it’s a brutal five minutes indeed. First we’re treated to a long discussion about the nature of morality (it’s a strobe-light, if you’re curious), and then leads Mark Strong and Lennie James take one of their fellow cops–who is a murderer according to James’ character–into the back of a restaurant to off him. It’s a risky opening that sets a gritty, albeit strange tone. Watch the scene for yourself below. Does it make you want to come back for more? //www.tvequals.com/2013/08/07/low-winter-sun-premiere-teaser-catch-the-first-5-minutes-now/
