TV ratings: 'Agents of SHIELD' opens well for ABC Tuesday, 'NCIS' down some

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013The premiere of "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" was not an "Avengers"-level blockbuster for ABC Tuesday, but it still opened quite well. It led its hour in adults 18-49 by a good margin. That did not, however, extend to the rest of ABC's new lineup Tuesday. "The Goldbergs" did an OK job retaining its lead-in at 9 o'clock, but "Trophy Wife" and "Lucky 7" fell off later in the night, with the latter pulling in very weak numbers. Also Tuesday, "The Voice" was up over its Tuesday debut last fall, taking a big jump in its second hour. That in turn helped "Chicago Fire" score its biggest audience ever. "NCIS" was down from its premiere last year but still was far and away the night's most-watched show. "Person of Interest" also took a hit in its new timeslot. FOX's comedies unsurprisingly dropped against stiffer competition.CBS led the night in viewers with... //

"I hope I would have the wherewithal to square away a little bit of it, and then I'd just have a blast," Matt Long ("Jack & Bobby") admitted. "Of course, if you were inspired by this awesome cause that you'd want to give to, then you would be able to do that and make a difference, but... //

ABC's Fall Line-Up Features Seven New Dramas, Including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Watch the Trailers!

See which fall shows people are most excited about with our Track-tion infographic » ABC Reveals New Fall Dramas ABC announced that a whopping 13 new shows would join its line-up for Fall and Midseason 2013-14. That’s a lot of shows, especially for a network that had a lot to begin with. One way they’re dealing with the sheer number of programming is having shows premiere in the middle of the season, meaning some shows will air for half a season, and then go on hiatus. Just what shows will be given this hiatus treatment is yet to be revealed, but it’s likely the majority of them will be dramas. So let’s take a look at those dramas set to premiere at SOME point next season. The show with the biggest buzz, by far, is Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D , which has the creative input of The Avengers director Joss Whedon. Whedon? Avengers? TV? Basically, it’s a nerd-dream come true. Plus, the trailer is awesome. Another show that may appeal to the nerds in all of us is the Once Upon a Time spin-off, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland . As can be gathered from the title, the show is a loose adaptation of the Alice in Wonderland books, set in Victorian-era London, except this Alice is a little older, a little tougher, and maybe just a tad crazy. Another drama with slightly spooky overtones is Resurrection , about a young boy who may or may not be the reincarnation of a boy who died 32 years ago. Omar Epps stars as the immigration agent investigating the case. Modern Family ’s Sofia Vergara is executive producer of Killer Women , and one look at the trailer shows you they are going for a Quentin Tarantino vibe with the show, although probably with a little less blood. Tricia Helfer ( Battlestar Galactica ) stars as a Texas Ranger who must deal with the fact that she’s the only woman in the force, and some are just itching to see her fail. The relationship centered on in Betrayal is, unsurprisingly, one based on betrayal, as two married people have an instant attraction that leads to some not-so-chaste meetings. And while watching two people have an affair for an hour every week may be entertaining for some, ABC is tossing a murder and subsequent investigation into the mix, just in case. Stuart Townsend stars as one of the betrayers. (In other news, what happened to Stuart Townsend? He looks…used.) The last time someone won the lottery on an ABC show, things didn’t turn out so great, ( Lost , anyone?), so let’s just hope the multiple winners of the lottery in the comedic drama Lucky 7 fare a little better… Finally, we have Mind Games , starring Christian Slater and Steve Zahn as brothers who run a unique "problem solving" firm centered on one brother’s uncanny ability to read people and situations, and influence behavior. Of course, not everyone takes kindly to this approach…
