'Man Up!' Pulled From ABC's Schedule, Replaced By 'Last Man Standing' Repeats

Effective immediately, ABC has pulled ratings laggard  Man Up !  off its schedule and will run repeats of  Last Man Standing  in its place until new sitcom  Work It  joins the schedule  on January 3 . No surprise to anyone paying attention. It was flagged as likely to be canceled long ago by our predictions and after the show received no new episodes and wasn't on ABC's mid-season schedule, it was done for. Read More... //

'Modern Family,' 'Man Up!' go geek

Each week, Ben Begley hosts a show on called ABC.Comedy, doing a very funny wrap up of the week's hilarity. Sometimes he has guests. Stars of the ABC shows like Ana Gasteyer from "Suburgatory" or Dan Fogler from "Man Up!" This week, I was lucky enough to be asked to be a guest on the show. I was called in as a "geek expert," since there were a number of nerdy moments to discuss. I recently chatted with "Man Up!" writer and star Christopher Moynihan who talked about their "Star Wars" episode and what it means to guys. In honor of this, Ben and I had a bit of a lightsaber battle. (I brought mine from home. No, I'm not kidding.)We also talked about the "Modern Family" geek out moment when Alex Dunphy (Ariel Winter) takes down her hair and mesmerizes the nerdy guys in school. Ben didn't think that actually worked in real... //

'Man Up!' promo is 'too hot for ABC'

The new "Man Up!" promo may be too hot for ABC, but we've got it for you right here. The show about a group of men trying to grow up premiered last week, exploring the question of how to be a real man in a world full of things like manscaping, spray tans and hipster shoes.Last week, the guys searched for the perfect gift for Will's (Mather Zickel) 13-year-old son, tossing around ideas like an inappropriate M-rated video game, a shaving kit and a knife. Now, the promo for this Tuesday's show may not give us much information on the actual episode, but you'll get exactly who these guys are. Are you guys watching "Man Up!"? We'd love to hear your thoughts on the show. Before this week's episode, make sure to check out Kenny's (Dan Fogler) blog, Kenny's Ridiculously Awesome House of Awesome. He's so awesomely awesome that he has a betamax version of... //

MAN UP (ABC) “Pilot” Episode 1

MAN UP  "Pilot" Episode 1  premieres  Tuesday, October 18 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Synopsis:  In the premiere episode, "Pilot," Will is more interested in finding the perfect gift for his son Nathan’s (Jake Johnson) 13th birthday than in doing his job selling insurance. His best friend, sensitive soul Craig (Christopher Moynihan), still pines for his college ex, Lisa. Will’s brother-in-law, Kenny (Dan Fogler), clamps down on his anger and asks himself, "What would Tobey Maguire do?," when his ex-wife, Brenda (Amanda Detmer), starts seeing a guy who is everything he’s not and much better looking (Henry Simmons). After Craig crashes Lisa’s wedding to try to win her back, they are all faced with an opportunity to "man up" and be like their forefathers. "Man Up!" premieres TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Read More... //

Craig Learns How Not to Win the Girl Back on Her Wedding Day on 'Man Up!' (VIDEO)

Right away, my firsts instinct when watching 'Man Up!' (Tue., 8:30PM ET on ABC) was that the network has another 'Cougar Town' on their hands, with the slight difference that none of these actors are household names. What I mean is that the show seems to have the potential to be far greater than the gimmicky premise it's been saddled with. And just like 'Cougar Town' works against that show as a title, I think 'Man Up!' will work against this one. //

'Man Up' video clips: ABC goes for the male demographic

Short of switching formats and running back-to-back football games 24/7, there's only so much a network can do to woo the typical male audience. By typical male we mean: 20-something to 40-something, in a relationship, holding down a ho-hum job and into playing networked games with buddies. We assume this because "Man Up," the half-hour comedy that will follow Tim Allen's new "Last Man Standing" man-themed hour of Tuesday night comedy, seems to be about exactly these guys. Three friends -- played by Mather Zickel, Christopher Moynihan and Dan Fogler -- who are, as the network describes it, trying to "get in touch with their inner tough guys."Will it work? Watch the clips and tell us what you think:... //
