Agent Carter's Finale Is Unexpectedly All About Captain America

The specter of Steve Rogers hung over the whole of Agent Carter's first season but last night's finale was all about him. To the point where this show started to feel a bit like an epilogue to Captain America: The First Avenger again. That didn't stop it from being incredibly moving, and having a few great fist-pumping moments.   Read More... //feeds.gawker.com/~r/io9/full/~3/q_QoJQmX1Ww/agent-carters-finale-is-unexpectedly-all-about-captain-1687972187

'Marvel’s Agent Carter' S1E8: Valediction

★ ★ ★ ★ I knew that Ivchenko had to have been more important than we were let to believe. He is in fact Doctor Faustus, a modern era villain. Which, of course, is an odd choice, unless you’ve been keeping up with Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. , where mind control becomes a big threat once again. Ivchenko, or "Fennhoff" now, won’t be gone for long. It’s nice to know that he’s not an original villain since, let’s face it, the hypnotism thing was still a little weird. Secondly, I’d like to bring up just how nicely written Peggy’s emotional state is after her loss of Steve Rogers. She doesn’t break down every time Captain America is brought up and so each time that he was mentioned, it was more resonating. The scene with the vial of blood was definitely a nice one and gave her that sense of closure that her and viewers needed. If the show keeps going after this, it will be nice to know that Steve, perhaps, won’t be mentioned as much. Maybe seeing Agent Carter splinter off more from Captain America and gain its own identity. What’s a little more heartbreaking is Howard Stark’s hypnotist session, revealing that, like Peggy, he is also preoccupied and wracked with guilt about the supposed death of Steve. It’s just so much worse knowing that Steve is still alive and out there. Leviathan seemed much… smaller than you would think the finale would try to portray. The whole organizational portion of Leviathan remains relatively unknown, as well as any future evil plans. Luckily though, Arnim Zola made an appearance. The HYDRA incorporations and beginnings of the hydra infiltration are imminent. Also, knowing Whedon motifs, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Angie. We all know that small supporting characters like her usually end up being very important and/or powerful. Examples: Anya, Winifred Burkle, Whiskey (and other "dolls"). Shoutout to Jarvis and Peggy, as they are always a great duo.

Agent Carter Season Finale: 'Til We Meet Again

In the immediate aftermath of the movie theatre scene last week , Peggy and her SSR colleagues are in shock over the 47 dead people in the movie theatre. And no wonder: its a disturbing terrorist attack, the kind that most of these superhero movies circle around. (Perhaps exactly what superhero movies are compensating for.) Sousa finds the leftover canister, gets a whiff of it straight to the face and tries to choke Thompson. He wakes up tied to a bed, with Peggy waiting by his side. This is about the first and only time I can see their coupling working.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2015/02/agent-carter-recap-season-1-finale-howard-stark.html

Marvels Agent Carter Season Finale Recap: Valediction

"I know my value. Anyone else's opinion doesn't really matter." With that line, near the end of the season finale of " Marvel's Agent Carter, " intelligence agent Peggy Carter showed how far she's come since the series began several weeks ago. Tonight's episode was a satisfying payoff to the emotional journey we've seen Peggy take these past weeks from yearning for respect to insisting on it as her right, from pining for her lost love to standing on her own two feet. It made clear, to the extent it wasn't already, that Marvel made a smart move in building a show around Agent Carter in the first place. Oh, and also Peggy saved New York and took down the bad guys from Leviathan . Did anyone really think she wouldn't?   Read More... //blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2015/02/24/marvels-agent-carter-season-finale-recap-valediction/?mod=WSJBlog

Marvel's Agent Carter Season 1 Episode 8 Review: Valediction

Wow, what a fantastic finale! After a season full of excitement and drama, I expected nothing less from Marvel's Agent Carter Season 1 Episode 8 . I even saved my five star rating for it, and it did not disappoint. I know it's probably unlikely, but I hope ABC decides to bring this gem of a show back next season. Though the writers gave us some closure, they left it open enough to leave us wanting more.   Read More... //www.tvfanatic.com/2015/02/marvels-agent-carter-season-1-episode-8-review-valediction/
