Jim Steranko on 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.': 'Do We REALLY Give a Damn?'

Jim Steranko, one of the creators of the Nick Fury character, recaps Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for THR's Heat Vision every week. Read more about the Marvel Comics artist in a Q&A . Here's the problem: The comic book-derived Agents of  S.H.I.E.L.D.  wants to be like its big-brother film blockbusters because the audience can't help but make that association. 'Agents of SHIELD' gains Bill Paxton in multi-episode arc as John Garrett

"Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" just gained a big name for its cast. Bill Paxton has been cast as a multi-episode arc as Agent John Garrett. "We wanted to bring in a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger," co-showrunner Jed Whedon tells TV Guide, adding that Garrett will work with Ward and May. Fellow showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen adds, "[Garrett] comes into the fold in a very surprising way. He is the type who wants to stay out in the field no matter how high-level he gets." Paxton's arc will begin in late February or early March and is expected to run for at least four episodes. While in the comics Agent Garrett is turned into a cyborg to save his life after being injured working for SHIELD, it's unclear if that will be the same in the TV show. Could that story end up being... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/agents-of-shield-gains-bill-paxton-in-multi-episode-arc-as-john-garrett.html

'Agents of SHIELD' gains a new supervillain, episode 12 synopsis released

"Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" will soon be getting that more Marvel that was promised. A new supervillain will be introduced in the upcoming episode 12 "Seeds." "Lost" alum Dylan Minnette has been cast as a young Donnie Gill. As Marvel fans will know -- particularly "Iron Man" ones -- Donnie Gill is the alter ego of the villain Blizzard. In the comics, his abilities (which involve cold and water manipulation) are derived from a suit created by Justin Hammer. It would be easy to make that connection work in "Agents of SHIELD," since Sam Rockwell played Hammer in "Iron Man 2." Surely the repercussions of his work are still being felt in the world that "Agents of SHIELD" populates. Though Rockwell has said he's game to reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems more likely that David Conrad's Ian Quinn will play a similar role instead. He is noted as reprising his role in... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/agents-of-shield-gains-a-new-supervillain-episode-12-synopsis-released.html
