Review of Mr. Robot

Wednesdays, 10:00 PM ET on USA

60 minutes

Mr. Robot centers on a young programmer, Elliot (Rami Malek), who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. He finds himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations that are recruiting him to bring down corporate America. Slater plays Mr. Robot, a mysterious anarchist who recruits Elliot. Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin (“True Detective”) and Chad Hamilton (“Breakup at a Wedding”) also executive produce.

I usually wait for at least one season to evaluate a new series. But this one actually blew my mind. If you are happy with your mediocre life and you do not want to question anything in your life, and your only thought is where to get your next brand new non-durable good, then stay away from this gem of a TV show - you might get upset. But if you are open to mind blowing revelations (and I do NOT talk about any biblical bs), or you are already there and pose questions concerning our society, then check this show out.
It is situated in the computer/IT-world, but that is not its message. It is about more - our world/lifes/society/belief/self-display/self-regard and much much more. I actually watched some passages several times as they were cathartic (for me at least).
I only hope this show keeps up with this amazing level in the follwing episodes and that it stays on air!
Edit: I may have overrated Mr. Robot a little bit. The initial enthusiasm has faded away. I am going down from a 5 star rating to a 4.5. The main reason for this is, that it is quite slow in the development of the story. It could and should be a faster pacing. And the asperger syndrom like/social behaviour issues of the main character tend to be annoying from time to time - he has his issues, ok, but to me it felt a few times, that the story is focusing more on that, then the initial plot - or I did miss something? bad...
It is still a very good show and better then many others out there.
