Now relieved from his Anbu duties, Kakashi starts his day as J?nin and instructor to genin shinobi. He recalls his past mistakes on his training days with his former sensei Minato and tries to make his own way in instructing his candidates. Hiruzen notices the "darkness" still embedded in Kakashi's heart. Meanwhile, Guy trains his students Lee, Neji, and Tenten and they successfully excels in their training. As they rest, they talk about Kakashi's way of training and this makes Guy worry. At the dumpling house, Guy talks to Asuma and Kurenai about Kakashi and suddenly Hiruzen joins them. As Kakashi continuously ignoring Guy at the dumpling house, he is stormed by his former students and thanked him for the lessons he taught them before. Hiruzen finally reveals his 3 handpicked students to be assigned to Kakashi: Sakura, Sasuke, and Naruto.
