Parks and Recreation Recap: The Debate

It's debate time in Pawnee, the moment we've all been waiting for! (Most of us are probably more involved in the Pawnee election than our own local elections.) Ben is rallying the troops by informing them that Leslie is just eight points behind Bobby Newport in the polls, so Chris, Ann, and Tom are functioning as Leslie's Spin Team (I'm glad they're really running with Chris's relentless optimism), while Ron, Andy, and April are throwing a party for Leslie's donors. Ron provides the Swanson ribs, April provides the lap dances. Leslie and Ben are checking out the debate arena (don't worry, Leslie, the podium is four feet, just like your Parks Deptartment podium) and talking up how Leslie is going to wipe the floor with Bobby Newport. Let's do this. Read More... //www.vulture.com/2012/04/parks-and-recreation-recap-season-4-episode-20.html

Parks and Recreation Review: No Spin Neccesary

Let’s take each part of " The Debate " individually, okay? Then you’re all invited up to my dad’s lake house for a party... THE DEBATE : If one good thing came out of the 1,359 GOP debates this primary season, it was the amount of material it gave the Parks and Recreation writers. From the vacant answers, to questions from Twitter, to a discussion of how much time Leslie had left to answer that ate up the remaining time, the debate degenerated into nonsensical, hilarious sound bites. Paul Rudd returned as the pleasant dolt Bobby Newport, and he was delightfully excited for Leslie ,even after she ripped him a new one. There might be better actors than Rudd at playing a big dumb puppy dog of a character, but he’s got to be in the top five at worst. Parks and Recreation “The Debate” Review – It’s Knope Vs. Newport!

Thursday’s episode of  Parks and Recreation  was a special one! "The Debate" was written and directed by Amy Poehler , and like I said in a previous review, was an episode I was really looking forward to . And Poehler did not disappoint! I dare say that "The Debate" was the funniest episode of the season four of Parks and Rec . At the start of the debate, we know that Leslie and Bobby are the only real contenders, despite Fester Trim ( Friday Night Lights  alum Brad Leland), Brandi Maxxxx, and Manrico Della Rossa, but that doesn’t mean these other three runners aren’t given some funny moments. Poehler does an excellent job of bringing in even the smallest players and giving them some great screen time – Maxxxx copying Leslie’s ideas and not to mention her clothes, was fantastic. We’ll come back to the debate in a moment, but let’s talk about the supporting players in this episode. Ron Swanson, as always, is wonderful. When the cable goes out and it seems like Leslie’s debate won’t be televised, what does he do? Scales a telephone pole, cable in hand, and wires up the  house . And sings "Wichita Lineman" while he’s climbing. Honestly, this guy is brilliant. Read More... //www.tvequals.com/2012/04/27/parks-and-recreation-the-debate-review-its-knope-vs-newport/
