Penny Dreadful Season 2 Episode 8 - ''Memento Mori''

The next morning, Brona wakes up next to the corpse of the man she killed. She talks to it, saying that it'll never grow up now, kisses its eye, then dresses and walks out. Caliban goes to Victor's lab and finds his creator unconscious on the floor. He wakes Victor up by throwing water on him and demands to know where Brona is. Victor vomits from his drugs and says that she's not there, and Caliban flies into a rage, saying that Victor let Brona go out with a man on her own. Victor says that she went out with Dorian, and Caliban grabs some live wires and threatens him, saying that Victor made Brona for him. He vows to take Brona and says that once he has taken her somewhere far away, he will return and show him the monster he has made. READ MORE...

Penny Dreadful S2 E8 - ''Memento Mori''

Well, this Malcolm-centric installment's probably my least favorite of the season. That said, it did deliver a standout moment we've all been waiting for since Penny Dreadful Season 1. That's right, we finally got a glimpse at Dorian's mysterious portrait, and it was wicked as all Hell. Unfortunately, I predicted early on that things would not end well with Angelique and Penny Dreadful Season 2 Episode 8 proved me right. Damn, I hate it when I'm right. The cold open showing Lily snuggling with that man's corpse was unsettling. Isn't it interesting how much we liked her up to this point? Now that this twisted part of her personality has been revealed; not so much. I'm afraid her days are numbered. Sure, she and Caliban are closer than ever, but they're a lethal combination. One will die, and my money's on Lily. READ MORE...

'Penny Dreadful' Recap: Everyone Rushes to Save Malcolm

Though it opens with a shocking murder and gruesome fight scene, the penultimate episode of Penny Dreadful season 2 is a little slow. There's a lot of set-up in the first half that needs to happen to start to deliver on the endgame -- and a lot of that set-up feels repetitive. Once "And Hell Itself My Only Foe" reaches the final acts, things really begin to kick into high gear. As the season finale rapidly approaches, the villains look to be in complete control and the heroes further than ever from victory.   Read More... //

Penny Dreadful Season 2 Episode 9 Review: And Hell Itself My Only Foe

Well, I'm bummed out by Penny Dreadful Season 2 Episode 9 's ending to say the least. Let's not kid ourselves, there is little hope Sembene survived that attack. What a shame we lost one of our original players without learning more of his backstory. Just when he and Ethan bonded too, damn. Unfortunately, I'm afraid we're going to lose a few more of our favorites in the final hour of Penny Dreadful Season 2 .   Read More... //

'Penny Dreadful' Recap: Sir Malcolm Murray Strikes Back

In typical Penny Dreadful fashion, the slower episode of "Little Scorpion" is followed up by an action-packed installment. "Memento Mori" is not only one of the best episodes of the season but perhaps of the whole series, and it doesn't even involve Vanessa. While Ethan and Vanessa were building their nice love shack in "Little Scorpion," "Memento Mori" explores the absolutely terrifying things that are happening with the rest of the gang in London. Secrets are revealed, horrors are had and lives are extinguished.   Read More... //
