Satoshi and Pikachu run into Nyabby again, but this time something's very wrong with its friend the old Mooland. Satoshi carries Mooland to the Pokémon Center, where Satoshi, Pikachu, and Rotom learn that Mooland is dying. Nyabby and Mooland escape from the Pokémon Center and return to the riverside, where Mooland passes away in the night. Nyabby, after realizing what has happened, is heart-broken and refuses to be comforted by anyone. After Nyabby finally comes to terms with the loss of its friend, Satoshi asks Nyabby to join him. Nyabby decides to test him by battling against Pikachu. After the battle ends in a draw, Nyabby chooses to become one of Satoshi's Pokémon. Rocket-Dan's Nyarth, who for reasons of his own has been secretly watching everything, seems pleased by the outcome.
