Showtime Announces Premiere Date for Shameless, Californication, House of Lies

Showtime has announced premiere dates for veteran comedy Californication , buzzworthy drama Shameless , and newcomer House of Lies , but there's a twist of sorts. They're all on the same night. On January 8th, the network will first check up on the Gallagher family on Shameless  at 9:00, followed by introducing the world of management consulting on House of Lies  at 10:00 and finishing the night out at 10:30 by time warping a few years into the future with Hank Moody and company on Californication . Last year, the network did a similar premiere strategy, only it included Brit-com Episodes instead of House of Lies . No word yet on when Episodes will be premiering, but its order was booted up from 7 to 9 episodes for its second season and co-star Matt LeBlanc recently picked up an Emmy nomination for his role as a parody of himself. 'Weeds' may continue past Season 7; 'Shameless' returns in January

Before the current season of "Weeds" began, there were reports that it would be its last (conflicting reports, to be sure, but it was out there nonetheless). Now, though, it sounds like the scale is tipping toward the series continuing into an eighth season on Showtime. "I'm optimistic," Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins said Thursday (Aug. 4) at the Television Critics Association press tour. "It's been an interesting year, and I'm excited for people to see where it goes by the end of the season as all the stories coalesce."Nevins also praises creator Jenji Kohan for "evolving her show and making it move in different places," which he thinks could help extend the life of the show. "I haven't picked it up yet, but I'm optimistic," he says.Other notes from Showtime's press tour session:- Three series -- two veterans and one new show -- will roll premiere Sunday, Jan. 8. "Shameless" will begin its second season... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/08/weeds-may-continue-past-season-7-shameless-returns-in-january.html
