'Sister Wives' finale: A commitment ceremony and a look back

"Sister Wives" concluded its fourth season Sunday (Feb. 23) with a commitment ceremony that featured all 22 members of the Brown family and dozens of their family and friends. The idea of the ceremony was to reaffirm their commitment to not being just one man with four wives, but one complete family. It's been in the works since they were finally able to move to the end of a cul-de-sac where all four wives could be close together. Any wedding or vow renewal ceremony has its bumps and snafus, can you imagine how it is with one groom, four brides, 17 children and 7000 pieces of food? The best snafu is that Janelle keeps loosing weight, so her dress keeps having to be taken in. We have to commend her -- she looks fabulous and obviously feels great about what she's done so far. The ceremony goes off more or less without a hitch. After... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/sister-wives-finale-a-commitment-ceremony-and-a-look-back.html

'Sister Wives' gets a scare when Truely goes to the emergency room

The "Sister Wives" are in for a scare Sunday (Jan. 26) when Truely, Christine's youngest child, has a medical emergency. In the above preview clip, third-wife Christine talks about how Truely -- whom she gave birth to during the first season of the show -- has been lethargic and sleepy for a while now, but then suddenly her eyes started crossing and Christine thought she better take her to the doctor. However, the pediatrician sends Christine and Truely to the emergency room, warning Christine of things like kidney failure and meningitis. Bacterial meningitis can be particularly dangerous for young children, so Christine is pretty freaked out, as are her sister wives when she texts them she's headed to the ER.We think since there was nothing in the news about anything happening to Truely that she probably comes out of it OK, but still -- scary stuff. "Sister Wives" airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/sister-wives-gets-a-scare-when-truely-goes-to-the-emergency-room.html

'Sister Wives' polygamist flash mob: Kody Brown has no dance moves

For Mariah and Aspyn's high school graduation, the Brown family of "Sister Wives" is organizing a surprise polygamist flash mob for the party after the graduation ceremony. Christine is taking the lead on the choreography and, as you can see from the video above, Kody is not exactly Mr. Twinkletoes."I want to look stupid in-sync with you guys, not look stupid because I'm out-of-sync with you guys, you know what I mean," Kody says, adorably. The idea springs from the fact that the Browns' teenage daughters have forbidden the adults to dance at the party. As any good parent would, the Brown adults think this means they should most certainly dance -- in unison, no less. The party also features a fortune teller, who tells Kody that she sees a fifth wife in his future. Oh boy.In a more serious vein, the episode also features first wife Meri having a bit of a meltdown at the... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/sister-wives-polygamist-flash-mob-kody-brown-has-no-dance-moves.html

'Sister Wives' Season 4B premiere: The mothers-in-law descend

"Sister Wives" came back to TLC Sunday (Dec. 29) with the latest goings-on of Kody Brown and his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn. But the Season 4B premiere added some extra irons to the fire -- mothers.Kody's mom Genielle and his four mothers-in-law (Meri's mom Bonnie, Janelle's mom Sheryl (who is also Kody's step-mom), Christine's mom Annie and Robyn's mom Alice) all come to town for Mother's Day, which is ... a lot to handle. Can you imagine having four mothers-in-law?That is not all, however. Most of his mothers-in-law have a sister wife or two, so Kody actually has eight mothers-in-law and one mother. Wowza. But first, the families are busy celebrating their "plig-de-sac," the cul-de-sac where they finally live in their four houses. The kids are ecstatic, running back and forth all the time, while the sister wives are working on their relationships. It's hard for them because they were living very independently... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/sister-wives-season-4b-premiere-the-mothers-in-law-descend.html

'Sister Wives': Separate houses put a strain on the wives

The "Sister Wives" are feeling more like single moms now that they are split apart in four rental houses and everyone is dying to live closer together -- except Meri, kind of, because she's grown very accustomed to having privacy. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that she only has one child, so Meri is not surrounded by the craziness anymore, but the other sister wives still are. It's also affecting the kids because their dad is only around every fourth day. It's hard for the Janelle with the teenage boys particularly, who need a firm dad figure around. In what is no surprise, Christine almost revels in Janelle's teenage boy drama. Because Christine is the worst.Meanwhile, Janelle is kind of rocking the individuality with her working out and wanting to sell real estate. But that also means she's not really feeling the Sisterwife's Closet business. Janelle doesn't want to design... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/07/sister-wives-separate-houses-put-a-strain-on-the-wives.html

'Sister Wives': Holding out HELP shows the ugly side of plural marriage

"Sister Wives" returned to TLC last Sunday, July 21, with the Brown family living in Las Vegas. In this clip of the second episode of Season 4, it appears as though some of the older Brown kids are working with Holding out HELP, an organization that assists people who want to leave polygamist lifestyles. One of the members, Kollene, was part of the Kingston clan, a group in Utah that used to be led by a man who encouraged "intra-family" marriages and also the marrying of girls just after they reached puberty. She understandably has some problems with polygamy."It just makes me want to yell at them and tell them it's not as happy or great as you're making it seem to be. I just don't like anybody's in a group or involved in still trying to live polygamy," says Kollene. But the Brown kids defend their family:"Polygamy's not the problem ... it's not the lifestyle,... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/07/sister-wives-holding-out-help-shows-the-ugly-side-of-plural-marriage.html

'Sister Wives,' 'Breaking Amish: LA' ratings start strong for TLC

The fourth season premiere of "Sister Wives" and the series premiere of "Breaking Amish: LA" both had solid debuts for TLC on Sunday, July 21. "Sister Wives" averaged 2.6 million viewers and was no. 1 in the 9 p.m. timeslot in women 25-54 -- which puts "Sister Wives" ahead of the programming on both FOX and the CW."Breaking Amish: LA" averaged 1.9 million viewers, which helped make July 21 the best Sunday night ratings for TLC since December 2012. "Wives" earned a 2.0 share in households and "Breaking" earned a 1.6.On "Sister Wives," the Brown family is busy building its series of houses so the whole family can live near one another, while on "Breaking Amish: LA," a new group of Amish and Mennonite young adults leave their sheltered lives and head for the bright lights of Los Angeles. 'Sister Wives': Disapproval, Few Sales At Expo In FLDS Community

Business was tough for Kody and his wives on the season premiere of " Sister Wives ." The group was still trying to launch their jewelry business, SisterWife's Closet, but online sales just weren't cutting it. So the family decided to set up a booth at a women's expo in Robyn's hometown of St. George, Utah. 'Sister Wives' Season 4 premiere: My Sisterwife's Closet launches

When we last left the "Sister Wives," they were building a clump of Brown family houses, sort of like they had in Utah. Logan left for college and that was hard, and Robyn has offered to be Meri's surrogate because she's been unable to have any more children past her daughter, Mariah. The house construction is coming along (with a couple hiccups), but the big kerfuffle is over Robyn's jewelry business, My Sisterwife's Closet. Meri and Robyn are definitely more into it than Janelle and Christine, and Kody's not really sure what's going on, which is kind of par for the course. To see if My Sisterwife's Closet can make it, the sister wives head for St. George, Utah to an expo where they can peddle their wares. Robyn is nervous because she grew up in the St. George area and it's also where Warren Jeffs is from -- he's the guy with a compound of... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/07/sister-wives-season-4-premiere-my-sisterwifes-closet-launches.html
