Demi Lovato leaves Disney's 'Sonny With a Chance' with 'So Random' in its place

"Sonny With a Chance" is no more. The Disney series, which took a blow when star Demi Lovato entered an in-patient treatment program for "physical and emotional issues," is switching gears now that the star has decided not to return. "I don't think going back to 'Sonny' would be healthy for my recovery," Lovato tells People. "Being in front of a camera would make me nervous."Instead, the 18-year-old will focus on her singing career. "It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music," she continues. Demi Lovato: 'I Basically Had A Nervous Breakdown'

Actress  Demi Lovato  only realized she desperately needed help to combat an eating disorder after her parents staged an intervention.  The Disney star quit a tour with the Jonas Brothers late last year and checked into rehab to receive treatment for "emotional and physical issues." She has since come clean about her personal problems in the new  Seventeen magazine, revealing a stern talk with her mother, father and manager forced her to face up to her food fears.  Opening up about her eating disorder as a contributor to the publication, Lovato writes, "I basically had a nervous breakdown... I was really bad off. My parents and manager pulled me aside and said, 'You need to get some help.' It was an intervention. I wanted freedom from the inner demons. Demi Lovato's 'Sonny with a Chance' Gets New Title

TV bosses have changed the name of Demi Lovato 's comedy series " Sonny with a Chance ", sparking rumors she has been permanently dropped from the cast. The singer/actress, who plays the title character, was admitted to rehab in 2010 to address undisclosed personal problems and she was written out of the program when it became clear she would not be able to return to filming in January this year.   Disney   bosses insisted Lovato's departure was temporary and she would be able to rejoin the cast once she was well enough. Report: Demi Lovato Leaves Treatment Facility

Demi Lovato has left the treatment facility where she was seeking help for emotional and physical issues, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Lovato returned to Los Angeles earlier this week after completing her prescribed treatment, a source close to Lovato says. 'Sonny with a Chance' Sneak Peek: Joe Jonas Yodeling

Disney Channel's " Sonny with a Chance " cast made use of the Thanksgiving holiday to greet fans with a video and share a sneak peek to the upcoming episode. Called "A So Random! Holiday Special", the special episode features   Joe Jonas   who plays himself and appears as a Christmas present that comes in a box and with accessory.   Chad Dylan Cooper hosts the fully-produced, jolly-themed "So Random!" holiday special. Disney Channel to Revamp Demi Lovato Series

With star Demi Lovato in treatment for "emotional and physical issues," Disney Channel has found a way to rework her TV series around her absence. Disney and Sonny with a Chance  producers will temporarily restructure the series to focus on the show-within-a-show, So Random!, Variety reports. Each Sonny With a Chance episode will feature comedy sketches, musical performances, digital shorts and guest stars for the teen sketch comedy show, So Random! The first special full episode of So Random! aired on Oct. 17. "This allows her the time she needs to get well, without distraction or pressure," a Disney Channel spokeswoman told the trade paper. "Again, we extend our ongoing support to Demi and her family as she works to overcome personal issues." Sonny With a Chance stars Lovato as Sonny Munroe, who moves from the Midwest to Los Angeles to join the cast of So Random!  Season 3 is set to begin production in January. Demi Lovato's 'Sonny with a Chance' Is in Jeopardy

Since Demi Lovato entered rehab last week, there was little issue about her TV show "Sonny with a Chance", until now. Last month, Disney has told the cast and crew that production is set to resume in mid-January. But now the production is "in jeopardy" since the lead star is still going through a personal problem. The teen sitcom went on a hiatus in July so that Lovato can spend time with Jonas Brothers promoting "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam". Lovato had been going down the road with the band for a national tour where Lovato eventually met the problem. No longer romantically-tangled in real-life, Joe Jonas and his "Camp Rock" co-star Demi Lovato appeared to be love-infused for a Christmas episode of "Sonny with a Chance". Several stills from the Disney series' episode have been released to show that Sonny and Joe, who plays himself, bond over the piano. In the November 28 episode called "So Random Holiday Special", Chad Dylan Cooper hosts a fully-produced, jolly-themed So Random! holiday special, with special musical guest Joe Jonas. Sketches include "A Jonas for Christmas", "The 12 Days of Sickmas with Sicky Vicky", "Holiday Cooking with Roadkill McGill" and "Christmas with the Real Princesses of New Jersey." "Sonny with a Chance" is not the only guest starring vehicle for Joe this month. He had taped a cameo on The CW's "90210" playing himself and Adrianna's date. The episode is airing on November 8. Demi Lovato Turns 18, Buys House for Her Family

Instead of receiving gifts for her 18th birthday, Disney star Demi Lovato gave a huge present to her family: a new house. "I just bought a house," Lovato told People. "For me to give [that] to my family on my birthday, that was the best present." Lovato said she purchased a Mediterranean style home outside of Los Angeles. She plans to keep close to her family by living in a house on the property's backyard. "It's got pretty much everything you could possibly imagine in it," she said. "It's the most beautiful, homey-feeling house. I love it." The teen star also opened up about her very public breakup from 21-year-old Joe Jonas, with whom she co-stars in Disney's Camp Rock 2 (premiering Friday, Sept. 3 at 8/7c). 'Sonny with a Chance' Teases Rumor Currently Swirling in So Random

In a mysterious message, someone says that "Sonny Munroe is not the girl she says she is." In the next episode of "Sonny with a Chance", Demi Lovato's Sonny is asked to leave So Random after rumors spread that she is a thief. Titled "Sonny with a Secret", this episode will see Sonny returning to her hometown high school for Homecoming. However, someone on set begins to spread rumors that Sonny is a thief, causing her reputation to deteriorate and she is ultimately asked to leave the show. Unable to clear her name, Sonny drives cross country to Wisconsin with Tawni (Tiffany Thornton), who turns out to be a surprisingly good friend. Meanwhile back in Hollywood, Chad (Sterling Knight), Nico (Brandon Smith) and Grady (Doug Brochu) discover the truth.
