Chise awakens having slept for two days after her fairy ordeal. Elias takes Chise shopping to a magus shop disguised as a bookstore; Chise meets the shop’s owner, Angelica Burley, a Magus Craft Artificer, who makes magical tools. When Angelica learns Elias bought Chise as a slave and proposed marriage, she angrily throws him out. Angelica teaches Chise that alchemy is a science that can change reality, while magic is closer to being a miracle capable of bending reality with help from magical creatures. Angelica teaches Chise to magically shape a crystal into a flower. However Chise has a flashback to her mother in a field of flowers, causing the crystal to cover Angelica’s workshop in hundreds of crystal flowers. Elias stops the flowers from spreading. Angelica sells Chise a magical knife, coat and several other magical items. As they return home they meet a priest named Simon Cullum who asks Elias for a favour in return for the Church not interfering in his affairs. Elias suggests they think of the trip as their honeymoon. Chise and Elias travel to Iceland to check on a dragon colony, only for Chise to be kidnapped by a man riding on a dragon.
