What's Hot Today

The (series?) finale of Kurt Sutter's The Bastard Executioner may have been entirely too convenient, but it did wrap the 10-episode run in a way that should give closure to those of us who stuck it out until the bloody end. Tuesday's finale, "Blood And Quiescence/Crau A Chwsg" spent a good 40-odd minutes building up to what was meant to be the show's last bloody battle, roughly eight minutes actually in battle, then another 10 minutes wrapping it all up. And therein lay the problem with the series from the beginning. READ MORE...

A finale full of unorthodox forgiveness leaves us knowing little more about the titular character than when it all began.   Read More... //feeds.ew.com/~r/entertainmentweekly/tv/coverage/~3/ZSONFIatg80/the-bastard-executioner-season-1-episode-10-finale

The Bastard Executioner Recap: Mission Complete

The season finale of The Bastard Executioner is titled "Blood and Quiescence/Crau a Chwsg" (Welsh for "Blood and Sleep"). While a great deal of blood is lost in the final battle, the season ends peacefully, and the future appears as if it will be calm for a while, at least.   First up: revenge. Milus had given Toran and Wilkin free rein to kill Sir Locke and the Reeve, respectively, to avenge the deaths of their wives and children. However, when Milus sees the Reeve praying in the chapel in the opening scene, regret crosses his eyes; a changed man in these final episodes, Milus appears to question his orders. Luckily, Toran and Wilkin are not blinded by the same vengeance that started them on this journey.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2015/11/bastard-executioner-recap-season-1-episode-10.html

The Bastard Executioner Season 1 Finale Review: Blood and Quiescence/Crau a Chwsg

What a tidy conclusion to a busy, occasionally messy and often exhilarating first season of The Bastard Executioner . The Bastard Executioner Season 1 Episode 9 ended things so cleanly that it could really serve as a series finale, in the event that a second season isn't ordered. On the other hand, there were enough new developments and open threads remaining by the end of "Blood and Quiescence" that I, for one, would absolutely love to see a second season. Particularly if it means they cool off on the Rosula stuff, now that Robinus is dead!   Read More...   //www.tvfanatic.com/2015/11/the-bastard-executioner-season-1-finale-review-blood-and-quiesce/

'The Bastard Executioner' Season 1 Finale Recap: Toran and Wilkin Get Their Revenge

We've made it to The Bastard Executioner's finale! And the last episode of Bastard Executioner ended on a major cliffhanger with Annora calling Wilkin "My son." So, will Annora finally explain things to Wilkin? And will they save Father Ruskin and Luca on The Bastard Executioner's "Blood and Quiescence/Crau a Chwsg"?   The Bastard Executioner picks up right where the last episode ended. Annora had just called Wilkin her son and, naturally, he's in shock. The Dark Mute comes in and tells Wilkin to sit. Milus, meanwhile, searches through his weapons when he hears a noise. He gets up and watches one of his men pray. Father Ruskin and Luca are still being held captive and Lady Love is worried about what to tell Jessamy. Then she tells Isabel that she really does care about Wilkin.   Read More... //www.buddytv.com/articles/the-bastard-executioner/the-bastard-executioner-recap-58117.aspx

The Bastard Executioner Recap: Misguided Rage

In the penultimate episode of the first season of The Bastard Executioner , there is much that hangs in the balance, and its hard to imagine that one more episode will sufficiently tie up the story (and a second season has not been confirmed). In "The Bernadette Maneuver/Cynllwyn Bernadette," characters evolve and are revealed; alliances are forged and lives are at risk.   The episode opens as a group from Ventrishire is on its way to hunt down the exiled Piers Gaveston, who is hiding out in Deddington Monastery. ( The Bastard Executioner continues to be a work of fiction with just enough history to whet the appetite for more research.) The opening scene involves Ash heavily flirting with a horse and cozying up to the prisoner twin (the one who hadnt been tortured to death). He agrees to loosen her bindings if she promises not to run away, which, obviously, she immediately does.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2015/11/bastard-executioner-recap-season-1-episode-9.html

The Bastard Executioner Season 1 Episode 8 Review: The Bernadette Maneuver/Cynllwyn Bernadette

"The Bernadette Maneuver" was incredibly intense. My head is still spinning from all that was revealed in this penultimate installment of The Bastard Executioner Season 1 . We can probably all agree that this was an incredibly effective build up to what is sure to be an explosive, action-packed season finale. The Bastard Executioner Season 1 Episode 8 focused on each of the major plots evenly, and some of the threads began to wind where there hadn't before been overlap (for instance, Milus and Lady Love have now become tangentially involved in the Seraphim/Rosula plot due to Luca's kidnapping).   Read More...   //www.tvfanatic.com/2015/11/the-bastard-executioner-season-1-episode-8-review-the-bernadette/
