James Franco Gets Trapped By a Mini-Fridge in 'The Daily Show' Green Room (VIDEO)

James Franco barely survived a harrowing experience on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM on Comedy Central). After having to get into character for his film '127 Hours,' where his character's arm was trapped in a rock collapse, it must have been eerie to suffer a similar calamity. As he explained it, "I was trying to get a Fun-Size Snickers bar out of the mini-fridge and it came down on me and I can't get my arm out." Franco immediately began to panic, preparing to sever his arm with a spork. Jon Stewart came to the rescue, with a suggestion of using his other arm to life the mini-fridge and free himself. All was well, until Franco saw that there were Fun-Size Snickers in there. //www.tvsquad.com/2011/01/26/james-franco-gets-trapped-by-a-mini-fridge-in-the-daily-show-g/

How 'The Daily Show' Addressed Our Messiest Messes

Comedy shows take a huge risk of jumping the shark when they try to get serious for a minute or open a teaser with "a very special episode," the four most dreaded words in television since "Up next: 'Wife Swap.'" Jon Stewart's 'Daily Show,' however, finds itself in the unique position of being television's guidance counselor. The news landscape doesn't have an Edward R. Murrow to speak of, a newsman who can honestly speak on a story without letting the vapidness of objectivity or obvious bias get in the way of his thinking. Moments of extreme sadness and tragedy have helped Stewart fill those shoes along with the aid of the occasional, well-timed dick joke. Colin Firth Reveals Why 'King's Speech' Story Is Now Being Told (VIDEO)

Why have we had to wait so long to learn the true story of King George VI's stutter and the man who helped him overcome it? Blame it on the hardiness of his wife, Queen Elizabeth II's mother. As Colin Firth explained on 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on COM), "Our writer [of 'The King's Speech'], he himself suffered from a very severe stutter, and those broadcasts kind of gave him hope." Jon Stewart Responds to AZ Shooting: 'Make Troubled Individuals Easier to Spot' (VIDEO)

When you have a topical and politically-based comedy show, like 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM on Comedy Central), it's difficult to know how to respond to a situation as serious and shocking as the Arizona shooting this past weekend. A 22-year old man opened fire on a crowd at a supermarket where Representative Gabrielle Giffords was speaking to her constituents. Six died in the shoot-out, including a federal judge and a 9-year old child, and Giffords remains in critical condition after getting shot at close range in the head.
