As The Hour begins it is 1956 and Freddie Lyon and Bel Rowley are reporters working on the saccharine filled newsreels for the BBC at Alexandra Palace but when they hear that producer Clarence Fendley is looking for a team for his new current affairs show The Hour to be made at Lime Grove they realise it is the opportunity they have been waiting for. Meanwhile whilst reporting from the engagement party of a young debutante Freddie realises he knows the girl as a former childhood friend what he doesn’t know though is that she will be the catalyst to a murder investigation that will take him into a murky world of skull duggery and political cover ups.
