Mystic Archives Of Dantalian Episode #12 Anime Review

With the final episode of the Mystic Archives of Dantalian, the show deals with an interesting Phantom Book that revolves around Atonement. With the idea of an immortal man, one who is always moving forward being part of the introduction, as we see Huey reading a story about it, it takes a different turn not long after that when during a tea time break, the pair end up meeting another keykeeper named Raziel. She’s of similar personality as Dalian but with a brighter look and a difference in that she has an eyepatch. The more colorful approach alone is amusing to watch as they go against each other, but also the way that rubbing under her chin like a cat gets her to settle down a bit. Mystic Archives Of Dantalian Episode #11 Anime Review

With this episode of the Mystic Archives of Danalian, the show goes in a curious route by going back a bit in time with Huey and showing him in the war as a pilot and his experiences prior to it when he was flying and leaning his craft. It turns a lot of his focus on Elias though as we see the struggles he had at the time and the kind of surreal way the Phantom Books enter the story. In watching the first half of the episode, we see the story unfold in a straightforward way but it doesn’t feel like it’s actively telling anything. So when we have the cute loli girl arrive, give of a slightly crazy little laugh and giggle, it hints at larger things when it comes to the book. Mystic Archives Of Dantalian Episode #10 Anime Review

One of the enjoyable things about the Mystic Archives of Dantalian is that it can jump to very different things easily enough and work within the context of the show. This episode wants to have some fun with music as we see Huey at the start of the episode playing a violin, though he’s not able to play it at all even though it’s supposed to be a very good one and he just doesn’t realize that it’s actually broken. What saves the day is the arrival of a pair of people named Christabel and Dallaglio who are able to put it back in working order in short order for Huey. The difference is significant to say the least and it produces a beautiful sound, one we don’t often get in anime either. Mystic Eyes Of Dantalian Episode #09 Anime Review

After a pair of stories awkwardly split in the previous episode that had some amusement factor at times but felt off, especially in comparison to the previous time the series employed this method, the show takes another leap here. With a very different art style to it, something that often throws fans when it happens in a show since they sign on to it largely because of a particular art styl ein addition to the story, it’s rather disconcerting at first. But the obvious thing is that they’re inside of a book here telling a story. With the series revolving around books, it wasn’t going to be long until we got something of this nature where we see things from the inside of sorts. Mystic Archives Of Dantalian Episode #08 Anime Review

While the Mystic Archives of Dantalian has found its groove early on and pretty much stuck with it, it has found some ways to be creative and stand out a little. One of the things that I liked a few episodes ago was that it didn’t devote the entire episode to one story but rather broke it into two stories, doing short run pieces on particular books. Some stories are worth telling but may not have enough material to it to merit an entire episode. Letting it shift to something a little shorter can tighten things up a bit and really just have fun with it. And there is a good sense of fun with this episode from the start as Camilla shows up wearing a man’s outfit and a moustache. Mystic Archives Of Dantalian Episode #07 Anime Review

As has been apparent for several episodes now, Dalian and Huey are simply drawn to people who have connections to the Phantom Books. It’s a series of coincidences that definitely stretches the suspension of disbelief, but how else to have them interact with a book every week? Having people come to them has its merits, but it can be used only so far in some ways. This episode tries an amusing approach as the pair are at a bakery where they’re waiting for some really delicious and particularly noteworthy buns to take home and savor, but it ends badly for the buns as they collide with a young woman named Fiona who is hiding out from some unwelcome people. Of course, she has a potential connection to the books as the men are searching for her. Read More... //www.fandompost.com/2011/08/26/mystic-archives-of-dantalian-episode-07-anime-review/

Mystic Archives Of Dantalian Episode #06 Anime Review

The Mystic Archives of Dantalian has had some interesting episodes over the first five of its run, but it’s also been a very episodic show with only the mildest of hints of something bigger going on. That’s not a bad thing though if it can tell the stories well with the Phantom Books and what’s involved with them. This episode shifts the gears a bit by not focusing on Huey and Dalian at the start but instead introducing us to the police officer named Mabel who has come across two odd people that have just arrived in town. The pair, Hal and Flam, have a pretty distinct look to them and Hal even introduces himself as a Libricide Officer, which causes her to keep an eye on him because of his suspicious nature. But the town and Mabel herself have a pretty laid back attitude, which is made all the more apparent when they talk about the numerous brothels there. Mystic Archives of Dantalian Episode #05 Anime Review

With the way there seems to be so many Phantom Books out in the world, and in a relatively small space when you get down to it with the structure of this series, having them becoming more well known isn’t a surprise. That is, in fact, one of the main aspects of this story as we’re introduced to a woman named Viola who is being pursued by many men because of who she is and what she represents. What she’s getting them to do though in order to become a proper suitor is to request that they bring her a Phantom Book. This adds more people aware of the books, though likely not of what they really are, and they’re heading out to find them and ending up at Huey’s doorstep. Mystic Archives Of Dantalian Episode #04 Anime Review

With the first three episodes of the Mystic Archives of Dantalian, we’ve gotten a show that’s definitely got an interesting premise about it but hasn’t won me over with execution. It’s largely felt like this seasons version of Gosick, which is both good and bad. This episode does start off well as it has Dalian being completely enamored with a series of novels from Lenny Lents. The author was writing a trilogy but ended up dying after the second book was completed, so no third volume was ever made. This puts out Dalian completely as she wanted more to see what would happen, but Huey is smart enough to put the onus on her for opening up a package that was meant for him. As it turns out, the author sent a message to Huey’s grandfather and that’s now ended up in his lap to go and figure out. Of course, Dalian is driving this particular train as she wants to see what she can find out about the final novel. Mystical Archives of Dantalian Episode #03 Anime Review

In a way, it feels kind of amusing that Huey is being continually invited to other peoples residences where things invariably go in a bad way. Such a thing happens again at the start of this episode when Huey and Dalian are together in a book store and someone that he knows comes in named Camilla. She’s a bright, outgoing young woman who through her choice of colors has a real sense of life about her. Which makes it obvious why Dalian sort of rubs her the wrong way, leading to some tension from that side at least. Since Camilla hasn’t seen Huey in an age, she brings them back to her villa to talk and they both learn that there is something that both are interested in.
