Can Rosie O'Donnell Help Oprah Save Struggling OWN? (VIDEO)

In her first week on the job at her OWN network, Oprah Winfrey discovered she was in for a much different experience than her 25-year tenure on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show.' In a note on her Facebook page, she wrote, "It's ten times harder than doing my daily show." 'The Insider' (weekdays, 7PM on CBS) reported on Winfrey's efforts to improve the network, including hiring Rosie O'Donnell to do her own show. According to 'Insider,' OWN is the 63rd ranked cable network and Web site traffic has recently plunged by 50 percent. Winfrey is hoping O'Donnell's show, which shoots on Winfrey's old set, will give the network a boost when it debuts this fall. O'Donnell seems happy to be involved. "We did like a four-hour sort of sit down, what's going on, what do you think," she said. "At the end of it, she's like, what do you say we do this. I'm like, I'm in." //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/03/can-rosie-odonnell-help-oprah-save-struggling-own-video/

Oprah's finale draws a huge audience

We won't know the final numbers for a while, but we do know this: The final episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" scored big ratings.Preliminary metered-market ratings for Winfrey's last show on Wednesday (May 25) have the program at a 13.3 household rating. That's its best number since 1994 -- which was eight years into "The Oprah Winfrey Show's" 25-year run and before anyone had ever heard of Dr. Phil.A final viewer count from Nielsen won't be available for a couple weeks, but the 13.3 rating should translate to somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 million viewers. That would make the "Oprah" finale one of the most-watched programs of this week regardless of where or when it aired; it's likely that only "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars" will rank higher. The most recent final ratings for Winfrey's show come from the week of May 9-13, where it averaged a 5.4 rating among households and... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/oprahs-finale-draws-a-huge-audience.html

Oprah Winfrey's final farewell show: 10 lessons learned

Warning: We woke up early to watch the first airing of Oprah's once-and-for-all, no-takebacks final show. So, spoilers lurk below -- if you consider life lessons spoilers.Oprah Winfrey spent her final hour transitioning into what could possibly be her post-talk show career: preaching. Sure, we're used to Oprah's never-ending (and mostly sound) advice, but usually those lessons are tempered with a few celebs and some free stuff to lighten the mood. On Wednesday (May 25), the longtime talk show host preached the gospel of Oprah directly to "her people." And, if you ask her, Oprah's people are not only in the studio audience, but behind TVs across the country and in 150 others around the world. And so it was that the hour came off as a little bit overwrought, a little bit self-important and downright over-induldgent. Not that Oprah didn't deserve to overdo it a little bit after 25 years on the air. But one... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/oprahs-final-farewell-10-lessons-learned.html

Who Is Oprah Winfrey's All-Time Favorite Guest?

It's been 25 years, but Oprah finally has a favorite guest  of all time . It's not Tom Cruise — or even James Frey — but Dr. Tererai Trent, a woman from a poverty-stricken village in Zimbabwe who is determined to offer the children there the education she was barred from obtaining.   "She's my favorite because she symbolizes everything I believe the  Oprah  show stands for," Winfrey said. "Her story encapsulates the essence of every lesson we've shared over the past 25 years: hope, your thoughts create your reality, gratitude, it doesn't matter where you come from, keep reaching for your dreams, and above all, you have the power." Ralph Lauren Compares His Design Work to Making Movies on 'Oprah' (VIDEO)

Oprah Winfrey knows a few things about starting trends. But she met a master on Wednesday's 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated) when she interviewed Ralph Lauren on his Colorado ranch. Lauren is the fashion designer who popularized the Polo shirt, which is now a wardrobe staple, and his clothes have been fashionable for decades. His approach is to design is like creating little movies, he said. If you showed him a woman and told him to design a dress for her, Lauren said he couldn't do it. "But if you say she lives in a mansion or she lives in SoHo and she's an artist," he said, "I could design exactly how she should look and how her hair should be, what she should be wearing, and I'd create a world around her." Winfrey called it storytelling. Lauren called it "a consistency of vision" that envelopes his life and work, and that includes being married to the same woman for 46 years. That's an impressive feat //www.tvsquad.com/2011/05/18/ralph-lauren-compares-his-design-work-to-making-movies-on-oprah/
