'The Voice': Christian Porter's 'Sexy and I Know It' cover a ripoff -- Who did it best?

Among the breakout auditions on tonight's Season 4 premiere of NBC's "The Voice" was white guy with a guitar Christian Porter's bluesy spin on LMFAO's deliberately cheesy pop hit "Sexy and I Know It."But even though the "Voice" coaches praised Porter for his "unique" performance ("So much imagination went into that arrangement," raved Blake Shelton -- who Porter ultimately picked to be his coach), anyone familiar with YouTube viral videos or singing competition shows knows there was nothing remotely new about what Porter did.An aspiring artist named Noah already made the exact same version of a song a viral sensation last summer -- long before Porter taped his audition. Although there was no mention made of it on the show, Porter has acknowledged via Twitter he was "inspired" by Noah.Last year on FOX's "The X Factor," finalist CeCe Frey did a similar spin on LMFAO during the show's sing-off rounds. And the most recent U.K.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/the-voice-christian-porters-sexy-and-i-know-it-cover-a-ripoff-who-did-it-best.html

'The Voice's' Blake Shelton on Miranda Lambert: 'It is what is meant to be'

Zap2it: When does your new record drop?Blake Shelton: March 26. It's called "Based on a True Story." The overall feeling of the album is it is just a ton of fun. There are some ballads on there. I will always be a guy who does some ballads. That is what country is to me. It is also rowdy. It is all songs about situations I have been on, or things I have done, or am doing because it is hard to come up with a complete album, and every song rings true to me. I only wrote one of the songs on there.Zap2it: How's married life?Blake Shelton: I love it. Everybody says things are going to change when you get married. Miranda [Lambert] and I have been together for a long time now. There's no getting away from it, and we are meant to be together, and we embrace that and I love it. It... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/the-voices-blake-shelton-on-miranda-lambert-it-is-what-is-meant-to-be.html

'The Voice' Season 4 premiere: 10 things to expect when Usher & Shakira join Adam Levine & Blake Shelton

"The Voice" returns for Season 4 tonight on NBC with new coaches Usher and Shakira joining returning favorites Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. How do the newbies fare? Surprisingly well. As Carson Daly told us about the new quartet's chemistry, the line-up delivers everything we've come to expect from "The Voice." (And even if no one is quite as sassy as Christina Aguilera, Shakira is so adorable that it doesn't really matter.)We got an advance look at tonight's season premiere and while we won't spoil the Blind Auditions fun by revealing who winds up on which team, we can share the following 10 highlights of what to expect.Shakira and Usher are both very excited to join the show: Not that they'd say anything different, but Shakira is eager to "help someone else achieve their dreams" and Usher believes "The Voice" has "credibility" and gives him an "opportunity to do what I love, which is mentor." Just... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/the-voice-season-4-premiere-10-things-to-expect-when-usher-shakira-join-adam-levine-blake-shelton.html

'The Voice' Season 4: Usher and Shakira join the party

The concept is so simple it's elegant -- if elegant can be used to describe a show that starred Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. That concept of judging singers on their talent, not on hard-luck sagas or hard bodies, instantly caught on. Witness the copycat shows. When NBC launched "The Voice" two years ago, there was a glut of singing contests, yet this one, based on a Dutch show, proved different. It returns for a fourth season Monday, March 25, with new coaches Usher and Shakira joining returnees Blake Shelton and Adam Levine."All of the competition shows were cut from the same cloth, no thank you," host Carson Daly recalls thinking when he heard about it. "I still remember when the music business was vibrant. Karaoke on TV isn't for me. Ours is. We are going to help people. ... The coaches, not judges, was a big sell."The coaches, who dropped recording, touring and promoting... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/the-voice-season-4-usher-and-shakira-join-the-party.html

THE VOICE: Terry McDermott, Dia Frampton, Cheesa, and Katrina Parker Share Advice For Season 4 Newbies

THE VOICE has evolved so much in the few short years it’s been on our televisions, but in its three seasons, it’s produced an impressive amount of talent.
