Occupation: Actor and singer Hometown: San Francisco Audition song: "New York State of Mind" — Billy Joel Jason Brock walked onstage to his X Factor Season 2 audition looking like Adam Lambert’s congenial cousin, then proceeded to blow the lid off the auditorium with his rendition of Billy Joel’s "New York State of Mind." Turns out, Jason’s been around the singing circuit for awhile; the San Francisco-based singer is also an actor — and... //feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/eT0gOqrfUlg/who-is-jason-brock-x-factor-2012-contestant-background-info

'X Factor': Carly Rose Sonenclar and Jason Brock highlight a lackluster second episode

It's like a weird pattern with "The X Factor" -- after a rather great first episode, the second episode is a huge letdown. It happened last year and it happened again this year. We swear there were more terrible auditions crammed into this one hour-long episode than there were the entire two-hour episode Wednesday night. The saving graces were San Francisco singer Jason Brock, 34, who put his own spin on "New York State of Mind." He was a little overwrought at times, but he's got a great voice. Britney called him "magnificento" and L.A. Reid added, "Every songwriter wants a voice like yours to sing their songs." Even Simon Cowell was impressed and said it gave him great joy to give Jason the fourth yes.The other saving grace was 13-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar, who took on "Feelin' Good" by Nina Simone -- and absolutely blew everyone away. She sounded like a 30-year-old professional. Holy... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/09/x-factor-carly-rose-sonenclar-and-jason-brock-highlight-a-lackluster-second-episode.html

The Voice vs. The X Factor: Who Won?

It is officially on between The Voice and The X Factor , as Simon Cowell's Fox competition kicked off Season 2 last night, while Christina Aguilera and company aired their third consecutive night of blind auditions . Who won the ratings war? On the whole, both programs shows averaged a 3.3 rating in the 18-49-year old demographic, but The Voice outdrew The X Factor in total viewers, 10.7 million to 8.5 million. The latter was down nearly 4 million viewers from last year's series premiere. OUCH. Read More... //www.tvfanatic.com/2012/09/the-voice-vs-the-x-factor-who-won/

THE X FACTOR: L.A. Reid and Demi Lovato Talk Season 2, Social Media and Its Influences on Voting, and More

Now that you’ve seen THE X FACTOR premiere, what did you think? It felt like a drastically different show from last season, didn’t it? Earlier this week, I sat down with new judge Demi Lovato (who gushed, "I’m still excited about the fact that I even got this job!" in the video below) and returning [...] //www.givememyremote.com/remote/2012/09/13/the-x-factor-l-a-reid-and-demi-lovato-talk-season-2-social-media-and-its-influences-on-voting-and-more/

TV Ratings: 'X Factor' premiere down, loses to 'The Voice' and 'America's Got Talent' in viewers

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012"The X Factor" Season 2 premiere averaged 8.5 million viewers, down over 3.5 million from last year's premiere. And it turns out Simon Cowell was right to be irritated about going up against "The Voice" -- NBC's singing competition program beat FOX's singing competition program by over 3 million viewers. Once "The Voice" was off the air, "X Factor" did fare better against the "America's Got Talent" finals, only trailing by 1.5 million. The "AGT" finals were up over 2 million viewers over the previous week, but were down 2 million viewers over the 2011 finals. Also on NBC, the series premiere of "Guys With Kids" lost a good bit of its lead-in from "AGT," earning 6.3 million viewers.NBC averaged 8.9 million viewers and a 5.6 rating/9 share in households, with FOX hot on its heels with 8.5 million and a 5.2/8. Don Philip on His Emotional X Factor 2012 Reunion With Britney Spears

When 32-year-old Don Philip walked out onto the X Factor stage for his audition in San Francisco, he totally lost it. "I never thought I would see her again," he said tearfully, talking about judge Britney Spears. Turns out the two sang the duet "I Will Still Love You," on Britney’s 1999 debut album, Hit Me Baby One More Time. Okay, fair enough, we’d probably lose our ish too. Britney and the judges were excited to see Don sing. After finding out who he... //feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/6YAKSyaOeUY/don-philip-on-his-emotional-x-factor-2012-reunion-with-britney-spears

'X Factor': Jillian Jensen and Demi Lovato share emotional bond

Along with new judge Britney Spears, pop star Demi Lovato was a new addition to the "X Factor" panel. She was just kind of there for the first half of the show, which was definitely stolen by Ms. Spears, but Demi got quite the touching moment with Jillian Jensen's audition. The 19-year-old from Massachusetts was incredibly emotional, because Lovato has been an inspiration and role model for her because of being bullied in junior high and high school for being different. If that weren't enough, Jillian launched into a rendition of "Who You Are" by Jessie J that left nary a dry eye in the house. Simon Cowell even seemed a little choked up and we're not sure we've ever seen that happen before on one of these shows. After her performance, the judges were lavishing Jillian with praise and she couldn't really take it -- she started sobbing and Demi went up on stage... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/09/x-factor-jillian-jensen-and-demi-lovato-share-emotional-bond.html

'The X Factor' premiere: Britney Spears steals the show

"The X Factor" Season 2 came back with two new faces on the judges panel -- pop stars Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. We were a little nervous about Britney, we'll admit. As a high schooler when she hit it big, we suppose we were in the wheelhouse for her music, but it never really did anything for us. Then she went on to be kind of a hot mess there for awhile. So we really weren't sure how this was going to go -- is she the new Paula? (And not old-school "Idol" Paula, but recent years, kind of cuckoo-for-cocoa-puffs Paula.)Instead, Britney turned out to be rather awesome. The best was the juxtaposition with her opening statement of, "It's really intimidating because having to sit there and be opinionated on people achieving their dreams is going to be really hard for me."To a montage of her laying the smack down, which included these bon... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/09/the-x-factor-premiere-britney-spears-steals-the-show.html
