UNDER THE DOME Recap: “Imperfect Circles”

Something truly unexpected happened on  Under the Dome  this week: “Imperfect Circles” was a very decent episode.  Finally, the show has built up some of the main characters enough that viewers are compelled to care, just a little bit, about who they are and what happens to them.  Even though there weren’t riots or any kind of organization regarding the remaining resources beyond asking neighbors for yogurt, “Imperfect Circles” actually found a way to move the plot forward with its characters while not actually addressing any of the issues of living of the Dome.  But what else is new?  Hit the jump for why any sign of love is also one of doom.   Read More... //collider.com/under-the-dome-season-1-episode-7-recap/

After two episodes in a row of Under the Dome (thankfully) finding its footing by actively raising the stakes, I was ready for the bottom to give out. Like it did before with the episodes that followed the premiere. I especially wasn't looking forward to "Imperfect Circles" because I knew ahead of time that it contained a pregnant woman going into labor unexpectedly, and at an an ill-opportune moment. And that's become such a cliche that it rarely makes for good TV. In fact, with the random fires, plagues and fugitive chases that the top of the season held, I'm surprised this card wasn't already played. And as it was, it still popped up out of nowhere; with us all  just now  being introduced to Julia's very pregnant next-door neighbor, Harriet, for the first time. Under the Dome Season 1 Review “Imperfect Circles”

One week after the show put together some competent drama,  Under the Dome  was back to business as  usual. While last week’s episode ended in one of the more mind-numbing contrivances in dome-based TV history, at least the episode told a worthwhile story with real stakes. Quickly realizing their mistake, the show decided to vault as far in the opposite direction as possible with tonight’s episode. What resulted was a mostly pointless hour of television that made me long for the  good old days  with Duke’s  house fire . Under the Dome "Imperfect Circles" Review: Alices in Wonderdome

This week, the dome zapped a woman into labor and Junior went vigilante, but the series actually took a step in the right direction. Read More... //www.tv.com/news/under-the-dome-imperfect-circles-review-alices-in-wonderdome-137573827562/

Under the Dome Review: Death Toll Rises

The death toll Under the Dome  increases. Each day (episode) since the Dome formed over Chester's Mill,, the town has lost one resident. The killing was either by the Dome itself, another resident, or someone used the Dome as a murder weapon. In " Imperfect Circles ," that pattern changed with four presumed deaths (Could Norrie's plea to save Alice be answered?): the Dundee brothers, Boomer, and Alice. And, a baby was born.  I'm not sure if these deaths are supposed to mean something in the bigger picture of the Dome, but it seems likely. Why else would the first six episodes have included exactly one death? It has to mean something, right? If not, that would be just another letdown regarding the show. Starting with last Monday's episode , the show has finally become what I was expecting from the get-go. Read More... //www.tvfanatic.com/2013/08/under-the-dome-review-imperfect-circles/

'Under the Dome' Recap: Big Jim Emerges as the Anti-Hero

If you watch only 10 minutes of Under the Dome post-premiere, make it the opening 10 of this episode: after weeks of belabored torture scenes, Junior finally gets his face smacked in by Big Jim. As a matter of fact, Dean Norris' snarling councilman has a pretty good night overall: while the rest of the episode gets tangled up in its weaker, soapier elements, Big Jim emerges as a pretty credible anti-hero.  Read More... //www.buddytv.com/articles/under-the-dome/under-the-dome-recap-big-jim-i-50836.aspx
