The Simpsons leads WGA Award nominees

Maybe I should watch The Simpsons more often. The Writer's Guild of America has nominated FOX's long-running animated sitcom for best comedy series along with 30 Rock , The Office , Entourage and Weeds . This is the first time The Simpsons has nabbed a Best Comedy nom from the WGA. Considering that the show has been on for 19 years, I gotta ask -- Why now? Read more ...

Mary-Kate Olsen on "Samantha Who?"

We've already seen Nicole Richie on Chuck and Katie Holmes on Eli Stone , and next week, it'll be Mary-Kate Olsen's turn. The actress is popping up on ABC's Samantha Who? as Natalie, a troubled young woman whose life Samantha decides to turn around. In the episode, Samantha has an altercation with a police officer that ends with her getting community service, where she meets Natalie, who's apparently an unrepentant thief. Samantha tries to help her by arranging a job interview, but that looks to be something of a disaster, at least judging from the clips below. It's nice to see Mary-Kate back on TV after her Weeds stint last year. Watch clips of the episode from the source

TVGuide.com counts down the Top Seven TV Moments of the Week ! Politicians real and fake, a dad for Kelly's baby and some red-blooded passion all kept us tuned in. Here are this week's must-see moments: 7. Most Unsurprising Surprise: Catholic school teacher Dan wins Big Brother 10 by a 7-0 vote after being chosen as America's Player midway through the game. (And consistently topping our weekly Power Ranking polls.) 6. Best Bloodsucking: True Blood 's Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) ravenously sucks the wrist of Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) because of the well-known healing powers of vampire blood. Then he licks her face clean. 5. Best Tongue Biting: Mad Men 's Christina Hendricks captures Joan's response perfectly when she's briefly promoted to the TV unit - then told she has to train an unqualified man who's getting the job for real. We suspect she'll win in the end. 4. Most Moments: The season finale of Weeds , from Doug's non-suicide to the brilliant bathtub time-lapse to Nancy's final surprise. 3. The Real Sarah Palin: In her first interview as a vice presidential candidate, Alaska's governor tells ABC's Charles Gibson "you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska... "I'm giving you that perspective of how small our world is..." 2. The Fake Sarah Palin: Tina Fey's Palin and Amy Poehler's Hillary Clinton help Saturday Night Live score its biggest ratings since 2002. Fey: "I can see Russia from my house!" 1. Biggest Casting Cliffhanger: The father of Kelly's baby on 90210 ... (SPOILER, if you still don't know) Dylan. Who isn't on the show. And Luke Perry says he never will be. This should be good. TVGuide.com's Top 8 TV Moments of the Week

NEW YORK, Sept. 12, 2008 - TVGuide.com reveals the Top Eight TV Moments of the Week ! We learned this week that robots are stealing our jobs, vomit scenes can be tastefully done, and overly opinionated news anchors are a huge turn-off. Here are this week's must-see moments: 1. Best Corporate Robot: Shirley Manson's cold, mechanical CEO cuts down an underling on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles . Not by dissing his PowerPoints, but by shape-shifting into a urinal, then back into a humanoid, and stabbing him with her finger. Stockholders love this kind of thing. 2. Most Ruthless Police Work: The Closer 's Brenda Leigh serves justice by admitting a corrupt lawman into jail under the name of the snitch whose head he put a huge bounty on. (Is it even a spoiler to say he dies?) 3. Worst Timing: Top Design challenges contestants to remake a bomb shelter/bunker - on the eve of the Sept. 11 anniversary. 4. Best-Handled Cookie-Tossing: Mad Men 's Betty spews in Don's brand new Coupe de Ville after hearing he's back to his cheating ways. Symbolically important, and darkly funny, it's a refreshing change from the downbeat endings of the past three weeks. 5. Best-Handled Cookie-Tossing, First Runner-Up: The opening of Fringe includes a guy puking on a flight attendant. Which wouldn't be so gross, except the guy's also translucent. 6. Funniest Scene Resulting in Sex: Weeds ' Andy attempts to will his body to resist Maria's advances by mentally picturing and uttering - more and more frantically as the passion intensifies - "Lou Dobbs, Lou Dobbs, Lou Dobbs, LOU DOBBS!" 7. Least Dramatic Return: Britney Spears shows up at the 25th annual MTV: Video Music Awards looking prim and svelte, then delivers the same acceptance speech three times. The Jonas Brothers somehow fail to spice things up. Come on, MTV, you settle down around your 30th show, not your 25th: The 20s are for getting drunk and snapping at Elton John. 8. Most Cringeworthy Boyfriend-Girlfriend Interaction: Entourage 's Drama and long-distance French girlfriend Jacqueline are lovebirds, as personified by their phone-cam signoff. Drama: "Tweet." Jacqueline: "Chirp." Photo courtesy of TVGuide.com
